I desided to try a clicker, to get my mind and body to settle on a consistent draw length. When I am tired I under draw, when fresh or excited I draw or expand farther than I normally would. It came in the mail today. After my wife helped me set it up I tried a few shots. Hitting the center of the bull was not my concern at this point. Using proper form and being consistent was. wpab

As a side note, has anyone had issues with noise from the little chain hitting the limb? I shortened the chain and wrapped the rest of it with duct tape to stop the clang of chain against the mettle clicker. wpab

I think the clicker would drive me nuts, but it sure does look like its working pretty well!

Welcome to a whole new world of frustration! Take the chain off and replace it with string loop cord.

Nice! That’s some good shooting there!

What SCS said. The chain will ding up the finish over time. >>>---> Ken

Don't understand why the clicker companies just don't include loop cord or offer one that is set with loop cord. Seems like most switch them out.

I took the chain off and replaced the chain and the string with a light weight cord. Took the string through the clicker part and Tied a not on the other side and of course The other end to the bow string .

Using proper consistent form is what makes them work.

They are illegal in some places ??

JR, illegal is in reference to rules in some shoots..

A clicker is only as good as the set up of the clicker. If the clicker isn't set up correctly, it isn't activated correctly, which effectively defeats the purpose. Yes, it can audibly trigger you to release the shot at a particular draw length (which will lead to consistency of a type) it still doesn't mean that the clicker is being activated with proper alignment, expansion, etc. if that is you goal.

An unfortunately setting one up correctly is all but impossible without seeing you in person.

At short range a clicker only allows a person with TP to aim and hold, nothing more. But guys whine so to use one you have to move up a class.

I don't shoot competivly. What I am striving toward is good form and consistency. When I used a compound bow I had a back wall to hold against. I am hoping this will force me to come to the same draw length and expansion every time. Ultimately developing a mind/muscle memory that will continue to be repeatable. Thank you guys for the comments and tips. wpab

fdp is correct. And so is Dave. some shoots don't allow them. I get that too because they help you get to full draw. I have used one since about 1990. I don't shoot competitively at 3-D shoots so that doesn't bother me. I am here to tell you for me personally it took my shooting to a whole new level and I have never looked back. My buddies and the deer hate it. Some guys don't get used to them simply because they don't give them a chance and their buddies chide them about it or they can't use them in shoots. But if you want to be a better shot and use the for hunting they can help. Most of my buddies that make fun of me are the ones with the toes out of their boots because they are continually scuffing around the targets looking for arrows because they short drew their bow 6 inches. Hehehe

I WOULD LIKE TO TRY A CLICKER BECAUSE I FEEL LIKE I AM UNDER DRAWING THE BOW BECAUSE MY DRAW LENGTH IS 30 INCHES AND IM NOT DRAWING BUT 28 HALF AND THE BOW IS 30 INCH DRAW

Lol GF, if you have tp it will also make you reach full draw.

Agree with fdp that getting correct set up so that clicker triggers at expansion is very important. This took me a bit more time to get it finely tuned than I anticipated. After I got it set up I found my shots very controlled and my groups tightened up. I don't like a clicker on my bows for a variety of reasons, one of which is that I do compete and many of our shoots simply don't allow them, another is that in the brush that I hunt clickers tend to be a liability. If I'm finding myself needing form corrections because I let myself get sloppy, I just threaten myself that the clicker is going back on the bow, unless I follow my shot process--that usually helps me focus to clean things up.

One guy I know always claims to kill a ton of deer and be a great shot with the ole grip it and rip it style and scorns anyone that doesn't shoot split finger, but he never accepts our invitation to shoot with our group at the 3D shoots. Last week I saw him at one of the shoots sporting a clicker on his bow. I never did ask him what was going on.

A clicker is just one more tool in the toolbox and like gapping, instinctive, stringwalking, etc. trying different things to find what works best for you is never a bad idea.

My brother has been using one lately. Says it helps.

I’m all for guys shooting better.

arrowgead2 if you are drawing 28.5" why do you think your draw length is 30"? A clicker won't increase your draw length.

Fdp is right again. Most guys don't draw as long as they think. I’m a hunter and I would give up shooting 3 d shoots to shoot one cuz deer hate em. But I can shoot 3 D here and no one cares. Big shoots they are not allowed.
