I slept in a little this morning and gave it an hour to warm up a tad before I hit the woods. Got into the woods around 8:00.

Here’s a little Smoke on the Water

Finally got a gobble at 9:00. Got him into to about 40 yards at 11:00. He strutted and spit and drummed for an hour. Got him to 23 yards, but he would not come to the dekes. Finally he turned his back to me and was looking away, so I got my bow turned and twisted and contorted and got it drawn and pointed at the bird. At the last second he caught me and was moving as the arrow left my bow. The arrow brushed his tail feathers, but that was it, he was GONE! Lol

What an exciting morning!! Watching them strut in all their glory is always a successful outing. We still have 4 weeks until our season begins.

Good stuff and great pics. Good on you for even getting to release an arrow at him. Missouri starts 4/19. We'll see what happens.
