osage sinew backed 46 nock to nock 55#@23 ok its about 55 I didnt weigh it out that far so just estimating,, and my disclaimer is I pulled the best I could to the mark at 23 inches when shooting,, I had weighed it at 20 it was about 48,, that being said, this is just to give you a rough idea what a short bow will do,, the one that that is pretty exact is the 184 fps and the 488 grain arrow, so I am saying about 55#@23 inches draw shooting a 488 grain arrow 184 fps,, thats 8.87 gpp,,, the bow is drawn about 21 inches in the full draw,,

That is awesome. You build fantastic bows for the the short draw folks or ones that can short draw. It is very hard for me to be accurate enough short drawing. Tough on paper plates drawing to the chest. Just don't feel justified in hunting that way. Not yet anyway.>>>----> Ken

it is more difficult to shoot,, but if that is all you shoot or practice with, it becomes more realistic in accuracy,, and nothing wrong with just shooting for fun,, thanks everyone for the positive comments,, much appreciated, I hope I inspire someone to make one, too,,

Great looking short bow Brad. Maybe when I get better at “ full size “ bows I can try a short bow. You never cease to amaze me.

Nice bow Brad . Love that unbraced profile. When you can hold that much reflex your going to have a quick bow.

Beautiful workmanship, Brad. I was hunting with the Bushmen on Allen Cillier's place in Namibia and my two Bushmen guides took me to a wild Raisin patch. That is what you use to build their bows. I cut some "staves" and brought them back to Montana. I built a bow very similar to yours, but it was 44 inches (common length bow the Plains Indians used to shoot Buffalo from horse back. Plenty of sinew and a Puff Adder skin on the back. It shoots 22 inch arrows like darts! ZZZZIPP! Took it back the next year and none of the Bushmen could pull it!! They were AMAZED at seeing their wood all worked up with snake skin and African art work on the belly.
Building bows is one of the most rewarding thing one dan do!

I like your artistic clutter. I get lots of compliments on Spirit Dancer and all are amazed at that bow. Nice.
I remember Jay Massey made on that was 55" long (pignut hickory) and 75# @ 25". Jay wasn't a little guy but he could shoot the snot out of that bow and killed much game with it.
