I have Bear Kodiak Special that I am trying age. I believe it is a 1960-61, but wanted someone the check my work. I am also interested in the collectability of this bow, as I just got the bow and don’t know much about it. Thanks! SN#: 11BG173 66”/60lb 1955-1967- Kodiak Special production dates 1960-1961-Has a flush coin that is shiny silver color (assumed tobe aluminum) 1956+ Grayling, Michigan silk screen logo with a 1953 Canadian patent date.

I can't tell from the pic but if the limbs are an aqua color I would say '62. Very nice.

I posted a few more pictures to help better identify. For the folks who think it is a 1963, could the coin match that timeframe?

The 61 aluminum coins were painted black as well as the 62 pewter coins....your bow looks to be a 63 like the others have said....60# I would think is kinda rare!

"could the coin match that timeframe?"

Yes, a '63.

Yep!..1963

The overlay is the give away between the 63 and 64. The sixty three will have an overlay perhaps six inches long and the sixty four has two overlays with a white break right at the smallest part of the grip.

That's an easy one. 1963 bow. 1964's had that sight bar, but being a '63 without it, you got a good one.

I've had 1961 and '62 Kodiak Specials that were 60# and they were screamers!

Heck of a find,,congrats. One could argue the K Specials were the cream of Bears line up.
