If any of you have cameras out you have to have a lot of photos like this. What do you suppose draws them to the camera, the sound, the smell? I thought at first it was just the novelty, but they will go up and check out the same camera day after day.

They are just like us. Taking selfies.

I thought maybe they sense some electronic aspect of game cameras. I have many pics like these.

Yeah Steve, I get dozens like this. Maybe we should just put cameras out as lures. LOL

Probably the pile of corn you have it mounted in?

Hardly John, we don't need to bait in Iowa, we grow it.

Curiosity, White tails are.

Bears are the worst, they will chew on them too.

At least it is the nose end in the camera.

deer are curious. I get toms like that. Looking at getting an angle count for higher limbs. Does seem to care more about them than bucks

It's only looking for the "Hunter" photo in it. After all the hunters are always looking for the "Game Animal" in those things aren't they.

I’ve had the same camera on the same tree for the last 2 years. I pull the card every week on Friday or Saturday depending on my day off and I’ll have one or two close ups on every pull every time. Typically it will be the young ones but not always

I had one set up and the last shot I was able to save was a bear paw. Lordy, he made a mess of the whole contraption. I love bears and their destructive curiosity.

3arrows beat me to it.. salt smell.

The woods IS..."the whitetails living room"

Now just imagine that: One day you're moseying through your house and see some sort of contraption that seems to have suddenly appeared out of nowhere and mounted itself to your wall in such a way that it seems impossible to remove and moreover?...appears to be made of materials you've never seen before.

Now imagine that's you in the photo's.

Ny job is done here. LOL! ;)

I made an adjustable bracket that screws into a tree. I take one strap on stick with me and put my cameras up higher, angled down. I put mine on public though too. This deters the thieves and prevents those type of pictures.

You do realize that one any typical day it is probably " same old thing/ different day". I would imagine that they are just finding something out of place to investigate and entertain themselves with.

Ya gotta admit, that's pretty funny right there!

From: BigOzzie

My experience

Whitetails are curious,

Moose rub on it,

Bears punish it.

last fall I took a picture from my stand with my cell phone of a small buck licking my game camera

From: olddogrib
Date: 29-Mar-21

They're sniffing out which cams have the pics "phoned" to the owner. It took them a while but they've hacked the software and are setting up a deer version of Match.com and are already busy lining up their hook-ups for next fall's rut!

From: WM1616
Date: 30-Mar-21

They can hear the camera, if you ever walk by one closely on a calm day, you can hear it too. After that I think curiosity kicks in.

I always thought that scent might be the reason of close up photos. I must secret sweet anyways from beings sugared up most times. Or handling apples before I took out the disc.

I have gotten squirrels and coons too in close ups. And at night the infrared must have freekeh them out that close maybe?

Was watching a video on trail cam placement, the guy swore that deer spooked at the sight of a camera on a tree. Maybe out in his area, but not in my neck of the woods! ;-)

(The date on that deer pic is wrong)
