I got my new aluminum riser Bear take down and wanted to give some of my impressions.1. Fit and finish. The bow is a darker green than the pictures, The finish has a slight pebble finish with no runs in the finish anywhere. All latches and screws fit well, The grip appears to be a thin soft rubbery material that does not stay on without the addition of more double sided tape. The rest that comes on it is a standard Bear rug rest and the shelf is pretty flat. The side adjustment plate is nice and works well. Limbs from 1973 and from 2018 bot fit perfectly with no wobble in them at all. 2. Shooting impressions. Very quite and totally vibration free. The adjustable side plate allows multiple spine arrows to fly perfectly. The riser weighs more than the magnesium model by a good amount , it feels exactly like the wood riser and feels very stable on the shot. I tried one of the old hard plastic grips from my old bow and it fit perfectly with no movement.Overall my impression is this is a winner for Bear. I can possibly see selling one of my wood risers and getting a camo model when they become more available . I shot from ten to thirty yards and it went just like I hoped, right down the middle for me with the side plate flush in onto the riser, the weight is still light enough to carry easy and with enough weight to be very stable. I plan to leave the old hard plastic grip on it and change the Bear rest out for velcro,I am a happy camper and if lasts as well as my old one this may be my last new bow. I like it a lot and look forward to shooting it a lot.

Sounds good, nice review. As much as they cost, they should have matching limbs available.

I agree with you, I'd like to get a camo one once they become more available. Glad to hear all the good points you hit on. -Matt

Thanks for the review. Does Bear Archery make camo limbs to match the camo riser ? If not it would be nice if they did.

1 am not sure limbs have to match as contrast looks good also. Maybe easton will do a run of arrows. Rooty

That's not the first complaint I've heard about the grip. Why the heck can't they get that right?

They had the same issue in the early 70's with rubber grips that weren't great either.

Are these grips soft or hard?

The grips is soft rubber and I’ve had the same issue. I’ve tried 3m tape which failed and it now has double sided carpet tape holding it on. I had to wrap the grip in electrical tape for a few days to grip to stick to the the tape. It’s something in the rubber compound that keeps anything from sticking to it. I tried to get an original grip on it but couldn’t get it to go on even though the grips are identical.

Other than the grip, I love the riser!

Not very promising if they can't do better after a long problem.

Thanks for the review, but never say this may be my last bow, I HAVE AT LEAST FOUR OR FIVE TIMES....Ha!Ha!

Does anybody have the camo riser in stock ? I must admit that the green looks a lot better than I thought it would, it is a darker deeper green than they show up in the pictures. The hard plastic grip I am using was tight to get on but stays in place and fits tight .I think that barge cement might be the way to go

And a GN grayling green long hood. Now I have to wait for months but I am going to be ready. Ill have to decide on green tip #1 or stahl#2 limbs. Rooty
