Warmer weather, spring, and there's a hen yelping up the road from here.

Who else is getting anxious?

JP....same issue here. IDNR opened our season in 1994 and it’s gone downhill ever since. Used to be birds on every ridge at daylight. Now there are just a few pockets here and there. We’re down to the point that they probably should just close the season and start all over. We have a state land by us the used to be covered up with birds. They’re lucky to see one over there now. Pretty sad that they can manage it better.

Well Stix, I'm not from MO but you'd still have to show me.

We have a lot of turkeys. They are frustrating to hunt for me. This is in my driveway a week or so ago.

Got "gimpy" the gobbler in the yard almost everyday. Looks like some sort of growth problem on a foot. They have been goblin like crazy. They will disappear by our season opener.

It was opening day here today. I went, but it was windy and cool, and I didn’t hear a thing, much less see one.

Heard a gobbler yesterday in the field by the creek, about a rifle shot from the back yard. Nothing new though, that chat all spring, summer and fall down there. Quite a talkative crew they are. Turkey season coincides with trout season and Morell season so I generally pick the latter two. Good luck to those who will be chasing them.
