Some of you old timers may remember the PBS arrow auctions in the 90’s. Amazing craftsman would create works of art and they would then donate them to club to be auctioned. Here’s one of them that I was admiring today. Unfortunately it was not signed and I have no idea who to credit for this masterpiece.

I almost bet if you post several pics. of it aromakr can identify it.

Yes I can remember the PBS gathering that Pat purchased that arrow at but the craftsman's name slips my mind, I'll try to get this old brain working.

Well the brain is not completely shot after all. The arrowsmith that made that arrow is "Hatchet" Jack Keener last name spelling might be incorrect.

That is a great looking arrow, but I have to commend aromakr for remembering the name.....Wow!

I can't even remember the nineties let alone a name from then. Ha!Ha!

Over on the Bowsite they said someone over here on the Leatherwall would know the artist who built it. How right they were. Yes, a masterpiece.

That's a neat looking arrow.

Does the arrow have snake skin on it or is that arrow painted?

From: PECO

I think it was the same auction Jack had an arrow entry utilizing a whole coral snake skin. Man has some serious talent.

That’s a blast from the past. I crafted that arrow. My good friend Ed Wentzler knapped the point. I was not able to attend the event and was not aware who ended up with it. Glad you liked it.

Greg, that’s so neat! Thanks for posting and letting us know that you were the artist behind that work of art. Just incredible!

Is the head carved or a real snake head? I honestly can’t tell?

From: Manfromthepast
Date: 20-Mar-21

Yes if I remember correctly the entire arrow was carved out of a single piece of cedar. I believe I steamed the head so I could open the mouth and insert the stone point, then close the mouth down tight again. Seems like a lifetime ago.
