I have found a company that will supply yew logs that, purportedly, would be suitable for bow staves. I have not yet seen any pictures of the log or logs.
He said that they were 7 feet long and 7 inches in diameter. Cost approximately $400 US.
Assuming the log looked okay, how many staves could I get from that 7" diameter log? Just approximately. Thanks,

At least 4 up to 6-8. It depends on how wide you want them and how good you are at kerfing and splitting.

I concur with Chris' estimation. Congrats on the find. That's not a deal you run across every day. Hopefully they're in good shape, not checked, etc.

Well, a 7 inch diameter log equals about 38 square inches. I'd figure waste to reduce that to 30 inches. Again with waste I'd imagine a yew bow at about 3 square inches end view so maybe all in all 8 to 10 bows in a perfect world. Less since nothings perfect.
