Looks great! I've use them before myself, ended up buying a couple dozen with different tips. They seemed to work best over a finish layer for me.

Will it run with a finish? They make industrial sharpies that don't.

Will find out later this week if it will run. Going to put a coat of spar urethane over it. I already put 3 coats of minwax stain& polyurethane on the arrow before cresting. Will see how it works out.

The ones I used did run with the finish and they will fade in the sunlight.

You will probably want to go to a craft store like A.C. Moore or Michaels & buy a bunch of them is various tip sizes & colors. That will enable you to make a wide variety of bands & your creativity will be endless.

Who is it on here that does the art work on his arrows with Sharpies and paint pens? They are gorgeous.

I tried them years ago. Still have a few left. I wasn’t happy with the long term results. Paint pens worked better, at least I could cover with a waterbased Polycrillic.

I tried them years back but was never satisfied with the outcome. Two things are key to nice cresting, you need paint that is not too thick, and you need long bristled brushes that will "float" properly under the shaft. Like these.

I've signed bows with a Sharpie and then sprayed it with spar urethane. It did run.
I did not run withpoloyacrylic a a finish.

I too found they would run, but light sprays with a clear 'plastic' gloss seemed to work, 'light' being the key.

I use Liquitex clear gloss over the Sharpie to seal it while it is still in the cresting machine. I just give the Sharpie ink time to dry.

Here is what I did I used 3 coats of minwax PolyShades Stain and Polyyrethane (Honey Pine Gloss) I used steel wool between each coat. Then I crested the arrow. Then put one coat of Helmsman spar urethane.

I use wipe on Minwax Poly as well.
Used to crown dip in laquer and full length clear dip. It was always hardening up or drying out and I wasted a lot. Now I use water-based or alcohol based leather dyes and Sharpies. Then wipe on finish.
Simplifies life.

I have been using sharpie, black, if I put a coat of something on the arrow first it does not run or smear,, then I can spray over that if needed,, working on some cresting ideas,, and feather combos,,
