There’s a million post about one vs the other. So I don’t want to get into which one’s better etc. I am just curious for you guys that have shot both.
Have you noticed a change in your draw length between the two and or a change in arrow tune?
I shoot both about equal given time to adjust but it Seems I lose a touch of draw length with 3 under which leads to a different tune.

3 under changes a lot, big one is string angle on the arrow nock. and a change in tiller, split has a cleaner release as the string is more squire to nock. my draw stays the same.

Shot both but when I tried to paper tune my carbons 3 under would not tune. SPlit was bullet holes out of two different bows

I haven't noticed a difference in draw length, though there might be a slight one. Basically three under is string walking, you would expect to lose some draw weight if the split was the thing the bow was designed for or set for (in the case of ILF).

It's nothing but a different way to grab the string. Don't know Why it would significantly affect draw length unless you were to change your anchor/sighting reference.

In my case your exactly right, I was shooting a little this more and with 3 under. I was anchoring a little different. Once I adjust to it. Draw length was about the same. I have switch back and forth a lot over the years, too much really but I am thinking I’ll stick to 3 under not really because I prefer it but it’s much easier for my feeble mind to line up the shot and the gaps are smaller within the ranges i shoot most often.

I shoot both ways - my recurves 3 under and my longbows split. There is no difference in draw length if the thumb knuckle is against something solid like jaw bone. The difference in tune may be due to pinching the arrow nock while shooting split though.

What fdp said. People have been doing both for ages, and any good stringwalker uses both in field archery to keep their point-on. We certainly can make a mystery out of simple things. There is one finger difference between the two...that's all. I don't have much use for 3under myself but have shot it a few times for reference.

I know a lot of folks see some differences--not here. Same draw, same tune, same sound, same everything save for lower impact with 3-under.

Boker I think a lot of folks do that without realizing it. And that leads to changes like draw length, tune, and even noise I believe.
Doesn't matter how you do it as long as it works for you.

shot both I prefer split as its quieter at known distances I am more accurate/constant with three under But both have their advantages and disadvantages

I shoot both ways. I set my string knock 5/8” above center and use a split tab so that I can choose split or 3-under with the same tab. I do the same with a glove. For what it’s worth in my case, shooting mostly aluminum arrows, I can shoot tighter groups 3-under, but split is definitely more quiet. I shoot the same length and spine of arrows either way. Any difference between the two in tune may be that with 3-under there is less chance I have pinched the arrow.

I shoot both ways. It slightly effects arrow length, 1/4-1/2", according to string angle but you still draw the same length. As for tiller if it effects sound change the nock and put the dynamic tiller back where it was. Biggest adjustment for some is not plucking the string 3under.

3 under for me. I was having a lot of pain on my index finger where it touched the nock so I switched. I actually increased my draw length but I lost point on distance.

I shoot both, 3 under for closer shots, split for father. I try to bridge the best nock point height by setting it higher than I normally wood for split and lower than I normally would for 3-under. For me, the difference arrives at about 5/8 inches.
No difference in draw length. I shoot relatively long bows so I don't feel a difference in finger pinch either, but I'm not particularly sensitive to it. Bow is quieter shot split vs 3 under. I seem to get a tad better bow arm alignment drawing 3-under. Don't know why that would be. I anchor in the same place either way. Maybe it's just feel and no real difference.

Been shooting bows very long time. Got serious about 1964. Did originally shoot split but changed to 3-under years ago and have never looked back.
One size does not fit all but my DL has remained the same and due to my tuning for 3-under I don't experience excessive post-shot noise. Using 3-under tends to change limb tiller because you are drawing harder on the lower limb. That is why some bows impart excessive noise.
To compensate for tiller imbalance and reduce/eliminate noise, depending on bow I am tuning, I use an arrow rest that is 3/16"-1/4" high, and a 1/4"-1/2" nock height.
I also use 2 string nocks to prevent index finger from dragging on the arrow nock.

I started with split finger, then later went to 3 under. But eventually went back to split again for good.I think with split you got the best of both worlds for both the real close shots and the real long shots also. Its a in between anchor of the under the chin anchor and the close 3 under anchor. And with split i went from a 29 draw length to a 28.Do what ever works for you.

Percieved noise 3under is usually just tone and/or string plucking which for some reason seems to happen more 3under.
