I buy figured lumber and cut and grind my own veneers using my bandsaw and my drum sander. I also buy some veneers on EBay from “ thinwoods and old tools”. Just search “veneers” and you will find lots of great veneers for bow building. Richard

I cut and grind my own too, but often the fanciest wood is cut into veneers before it ever makes it into the market.

Sauers is great supplier for veneer.

I've purchased many packs from them over the years.

The bowyer veneer packs they offer are sorted to have minimal waste due to cracking, defects, ect.

Certainly Wood is another good place to purchase veneer, but you will have more waste as they do not sort and trim the sheets for 100% usage.

You have to purchase full sheets as they are shown/listed.

Regardless of that, I've bought a lot of nice looking veneer from them over the years too.

I've bought some pretty unique Yew from Kevin Conner's Mill. He also has Maple, Curly Oak, Pistachio and sometimes Claro Walnut. woodfromthewest.com

His website is still up. I sent an email inquiry a few days ago but haven't heard back.
