I’m looking at starting a bow here pretty soon. Planning on green cedar over final target dimensions, put on a reflex reflex form to dry. How long do you think I’d have to let it dry before I can start backing with sinew? No hot box thinking about building a hotbox.

I thought it was the color green. I haven't seen green colored cedar it many years. My Grandfather gave me a piece quite a number of years ago. It was like red cedar only with green streaks through it.

Here in Texas depending on the time of year and where you have it stored it takes about 90 days.

A few questions. Is it a goal of yours to use red cedar? Do you have any other wood available to you?

Red cedar is not a goal. I wanna do an Osage rd sinew backed, that’s my goal but... Osage is expensive I’ve never done a reflex wood bow, never done sinew. Idea behind cedar Is it’s easy/cheap for me to get here, I can take a practice run at the design, and get some more build practice before I drop the cash on an Osage stave. All my play money is tied up in a couple hunts this year so otherwise I can’t get a stave to work on
