I'm looking for a turkey hunting blind. I'm familiar with the dog house.Anyone know about the out house. Smaller and weighs 6 1/2 lbs less than doghouse. Seems that it would nice to carry on my back in case I needed it while out hunting turkeys.I don't want a bjg hub style cause I'm on public ground.

Well I ordered a tree stand umbrella. They make a decent sit behind blind. I am going to bite the bullet and get a off brand of the doghouse. Its half the cost and looks nice.Figure I can run n gun with the umbrella and use the blind if it rains or I wanta try some fields.

I have an outhouse and there's no way I could shoot any bow from it. My son in law has the doghouse and can shoot a very short bow from it.

This year I'm getting a piece of that leafy camo material and some two piece rods to make a screen that sets up quickly. I hunt Merriams and they call for mobility.

Hidden Hunter blind is my choice

if weight is a factor some guys haul their blinds on golfclub dollys. But its easiest to set it up ahead in a likely spot.Be sure to practice out of it you may need to shoot sitting.

Cabalas made what they called the 10 second blind back in the day I don’t think they make it anymore but someone else may have taken over the manufacturing of it. It’s like a big umbrella just unfold the legs and pull the cord and it’s up. Super for quick setup and moving if necessary. Also big enough to take a nap in. Has the shoot through screen that doubles as bug repellent.

Ive had a umbrella for 25 years or more. It works good to use on the ground for a blind, and it sure is nice in the tree when its raining or snowing.

Ive got a doghouse, I use it for gun hunting, not sure if it would work well for bow hunting, maybe I guess. They are nice and lite and fits in the small bag. I used it through a snow season with a heater which was great until I tried to take it down and it was froze to the ground. Couldnt hardly fold it down let alone get in in the bag.

Get a pop-up blind like Laclairs

I agree with Longcruise. No way I can shoot a bow from my outhouse blind. A camera is about all you can shoot without having issues.

I had an outhouse blind. On one shot the upper limb hit the crossbows that hold up the top fabric and split both of them. Thankfully the bow tip wasn't damaged. It got stolen along with a couple of tree stands. Damned thieves.

If your looking for mobility consider a Guille suit for turkeys. A Rancho Safari longcoat just might be a better choice than a blind. I sure like mine.

For a turkey blind I'd get the lightest most mobile thing I could find. You'll likely have to move a lot.

Deer will be the other end of the spectrum, there I want strong and sturdy as I'll likely leave it up in one place all season. I would stay with a ghille if hunting public ground as you'd loose your blind there if you could leave it.

Well I got a outhouse blind thus morning. I want to take the bow but since I am yet to get a bird?? The outhouse is very light weigh. 1/2 what the doghouse is and a little smaller. The way it is shaped like a TP should be able to squeeze back in some smaller areas if briush and trees. Its much easier to fold up than the doghouse too.

I have a couple pre Primos Double Bulls talk blinds that are great. Saw one from Rusk on Amazon thats 84".

Just saw this thread. I have an outhouse blind that I bought years ago. I could not shoot a 52” recurve out of because of the teepee shape. If I backed up in the blind far enough to clear the front of the blind it’s the bow, my elbow would run out of room when I tried to reach full draw. Even if I forced through that issue, when I released, the upper limb would hit the front of the blind. I retired it to gun hunting for the kids. I would suggest you set it up and try it long before the season so you know it’s limitations. The reason it is so much lighter is because it is so much smaller.

I took a buck and a doe out of this blind this year. I had a propane gas heater that kept me warm in the blind
