I am refinishing a '63 Kodiak Special and unfortunately it had sights which I've filled with an automotive super glue. The hole turned black even though when sanding i used some of the residue to fill the holes. The limbs are yellow-white and am wondering how to get the holes color matched or close. I tried to melt yellow wax (didn't hold up to fine sanding), tried acrylic paint next with same result. What are suggestions to use for a close color match. Thanks for your help- really hate to revive the old gal with those ugly sight marks.

I just did one side of a Bear bow this past summer, the yellow should be white, mine was yellowed bad and once sanded, white again. Then you can plug with white.

Or maybe you have a yellow lam? you can see in this pic I started working on the white, took it from the yellow you see to the white you see, the tip overlays were yellow too. It came out pretty nice

Thanks-I have refinished a number of white limbed bows that had yellowed but believe these limbs are actually yellow glass. Will try to get a pic tomorrow-with daughters help.

Ya they can color match and mix auto paint. Ive got a really old Bear Panda that has what I have to think is a yellow lam

If you want to spend a little time mixing and matching those acrylic paints that’s probably the cheapest way. It just takes time to match the colors plus you need to sand into the hole a bit Then fill it a bit higher with the yellow acrylic so that when you sand After applying the acrylic it doesn’t sand way.

Bodymanbowyer- just looked at my bow and you nailed it, the bow I'm working on is a Polar, have a '63 KS that will be next on the sanding block. Yes that is the yellow that is on my bow as well. Brand of paint?? Getting old sux-thanks for the picture.

I use Dupont base coat clear coat. Went through the color chip book and found one that really looked close. It's not as translucent as the yellow glass is. But I airbrushed on the base coat and then I finished clearing with helmsman's bar varnish everything on the limbs. The riser is high gloss buffalo epoxy from big gem. Bass coat doesn't have to be thick so you can't see the edge plus I sanded it with a little 600 right before I sprayed the clear. I had a post with this bow and I thought I gave the color code. JF

I brought that thread to the top Wisconsin find paint chip code is in the pictures. Good luck with your refinish. JF

And if all else fails, check out the nail polish display in a big drugstore; sometimes you can find a pretty close match there.

Thanks Sir for the suggestion. I will come up with something- finished the zebrawood riser today and its outstanding-just need to get rid of those two little dots. Thanks for the help.
