I'd been asked about pictures of box calls on another thread. I have one here of the 2 piece I spoke of, and I'll follow up on that with 8 more 6 piece I've just finished.

Wow, if they sound as good as they look there will be no such thing as going home empty handed! Beautiful!

They are made from local timber I've cut on our property. top, bottoms, and ends are black walnut, and the sounding boards are black cherry. This style is very easy to tune. The cool part of this for me is the black walnut comes from trees my grandfather planted back when I was in grade school.

Very cool. I like the family history sort of thing too. I do likewise. Adds meaning. I've made glass bows and selfbows with wood from my grandfather's place, and even grafted scion from his old orchard onto rootstock and planted them here at my place to keep his old dying orchard alive.

Keep this up and you guys are going to make me want to start making box calls next.

My Dr. thought I'd benefit from a counselor. I thought this would be cheaper. Thanks for all the positive comments.

Great looking calls. The fact they came from your property and the connection to your grandfather makes for very special calls. Beautiful.
