I used to own an original 1959 that was 64" long. The 'hand shock' was severe, I didn't like that bow at all. I must have got a bad one, I can't believe they were all like that. I still own an original 1960 kodiak that's 64" long, that bow is really nice and I like the grip shape better.

I found them to be very nice well behaved bows, not exactly speed demons but very nice non the less. I would imagine yours could have been out of tiller to have the shock you explained.

I had one as well.Superb bow.Really smooth, easy to shoot and quiet.
Too bad nobody is making a Replica in that length!!!Some guys would appreciate that I am sure!
I liked it more than the Thunderbird I had at the same time. The Thunderbird was 63 inches

Interesting you brought that up Chas. It's my understanding and I could be mistakin', but I heard that Wade said he only knew of two 64" '59's that had Bubinga in the site window, anyone else heard that?

Both are 64” 1959 Kodiaks. I’d like to know what wood the sight windows are? The reddish one has a newer refinish. The other may or may not have been refinished.

I've read about this some where. Still looking but I did find back to Jan 28 '05, where Wade describes the '59 64" and states it was made with a 3 pc. I-Bean with 3 slabs, Brazilian Rosewood on the outside 3 different woods in the middle, Maple, Purple Heart the most common and Dark Rosewood being the most rare, he doesn't mention Bubinga.

Suedog, I would say the bottom one is Purpleheart and the top Rosewood.

I have a 64" 59 Kodiak with a bubinga I-beam and RW riser. Need to dig it out and post pictures. The tips have been redone for FF string. Still has the original leather grip. It's a keeper.
