What spine of wood arrow for a Pronghorn Longbow 46@28 arrow length 29" Thanks

FF string, 29”BOP, 125 grain head and a 28” draw. I’m thinking 55/60.

You will get a lot of well-intentioned advice on this one, but it really depends on your string, your point weight, how much you've built out your strike plate (or are willing to), whether you really ARE drawing to the spec weight, and of course then there is the quality & consistency of your release....

The other really big unknown here is how long you have been shooting that particular bow and how accurate you are with it already....

At least one person will recommend a spine test kit, which could be the answer to your prayers here, or it could very well be the road to perdition for you.

The good news is that we do have a few guys around here who have set up just a few people with wood arrows and probably can get you near enough as makes no difference on the first crack. At least for field points. Broadheads CAN be a bit finicky if you happen to be borderline on spine...

I wouldn’t be shocked if you ended up with #52 spine and 125 grains up front..... but that’s pretty much a SWAG

50/55 with a 125 gr point.

How are you going to tune/match the energy transfer of the arrow to the static spine of the bow ?

Are you going to pick an arrow length and point weight and make the bow shoot it or are you going to use another method ?

I don't recall this being all that complicated in my past life. :)

If it's not cut to center then you will need under spine arrow.

Jim X2 on spine recommendation. George X2 on complication factor.

Nor do I George but I just chose arrows based on spine and the length I wanted and tuned the bow.

That seems the exception rather than the rule these days

I shot 60/65 with a 160gr point when I had Pronghorn Longbow.

But you have to know enough to start close enough to get there....
