Small game hunting with a bow is a lot of fun. I don't kill much game but not only do I enjoy eating Squirrels, Turkeys, Rabbits, and Pheasants but I like the fur and feathers.

I give up. Where do you live that you can hunt peacocks????

LOL

I’ve gotta get out. I don’t care if I even get a shot at anything; just being in the woods with that intention does me a lot of good!

Those Squirrel tails aren't tanned. We still have Black Squirrels in Pa. but they're not everywhere. The Peacock feathers came from my neighbor. He had a all white peacock but didn't get any feathers from him. Shooting archery in my basement and shooting pool plus tying flies has kept me sane.

Where I worked at we had a Peacock that use to run with a flock of Turkeys. They got so tame that they'd walk the fence around the prison.

A coworker of mine shot a peahen once that was living with a flock of wild turkeys. He thought it was a special-colored turkey until he walked up to it.

Squirrel hides make good rawhide too. Thin and strong.

When broke and in college, a couple of archers and fly tiers I might have known went to the zoo once a year with popcorn to feed the peacocks near the fence. You want to hear squawking, grab a hold of a tail feather with them on the other end.

Deer, elk, moose hair for tying humpies, muskrat and beaver for nymphs, ruff grouse and pheasants rump and wings, and peacock herl for dragonflies, all provided by nature—and roadkills and the zoo!

American Ingenuity at Its Finest.. Lots of guys doing as above. My Wife got angry with me years ago cuz I plucked cream and gold hair from her dog. He repaid me with Silent Killers at night. Quid quo Pro. Squirrel and deer tails probably the most used materials. I would say the lowly squirrel was probably the best fast food/fly tying material lb. for lb.
