I’m looking to purchase a trail camera. I’ve had a few but they only lasted a couple years each. I don’t want the cellular type. Just a decent one that will last more than a couple years. I’d also like to stay around or under $150. Anyone have any recommendations for one that would meet these criteria or would I have to spend more to get one that will last ?

Reconx is the best but out of your price range. I'm mostly out of touch with whats good these days. Ive had Moultrie in the past that were pretty good. Just stay away from Exodus. The trigger time is slow and they dont back their warranty very well. I've tried off and on for over a year just to get a new door for one as a spike elk chewed it off. I could replace it myself easy. But no response at all

Bushnell, good price on amazon.

I bought a Browning for about $100 6-8 years ago and am quite pleased. It has a reasonably fast shutter, reasonably clear pics and batteries last forever. Mine is out nearly every day taking pics of animals in my yard, so longevity is not an issue. Make sure you research the shutter speed before you buy so you don't end up with blurred pictures.

I've been running a browning year round for a few years. Zero problems. I'd like to get a few more.

I like my Moultrie. Five years old . Good night vision. Does not spook deer (I have images of the licking it). Batteries last 3X what my prior Bushnell would.

I like the ones from primos. No way am I paying a lot of money for a camera that will eventually get stolen. Mine last for a couple years or until they grow legs. Whichever comes first.

Ive had a Stealth cam, Moultri and now a browning. The Stealth cam died not sure what killed it The Moultrie was good but I forgot to pull the batteries off season and they leaked ruining the tray I now have the browning and its nice (pic and video) was 99.99 at Cabelas came with batteries and 16gb memory card

On advise I would give on cams is get a mount where you can mount high angles down. Deer can hear, see or sense these things and are curious. I have them lick, smell, fog up, and some spooked by them. I love looking at the pics I get every time I pull the card.

I've got stealthcam, tasco, an wild game inavations. You can buy three wild game cameras for 150 bucks. Had them for years work great good pictures an battery life. Just my opinion. God bless

MCNSC, On the property my buddy owns, we run Brownings and Bushnells. When replacing cameras, we tend to stay with the Brownings. Have had the battery housing dislodge on two of these cameras and Browning replaced them; no questions asked. They are quite good as we run between 22 and 24 cameras round the clock up until mid January here in Minnesota. After that we only run two or three cameras until Spring due to the cold temps which really run the batteries down rapidly. We run only a few cameras on video mode, because the SD cards fill up quickly running them for a week to 10 days, but Brownings have very good video clarity in my opinion. Cost varies depending on the model, but they do go on sale twice a year at Scheels between $80 and $100. The posted picture of Tactacam Reveal is pretty impressive to me and it may well deserve strong consideration as well. Hope this helps in your quest for answers. Stay Safe/Shoot Straight. MT

I’m running 2 brands at the moment. Cabelas outfitter Gen2 pretty good. Using it about 3 years. It has its quirks, and I JUST got a stealth cam running it about a week. So far I’m quite pleased with it. The cabelas one is on sale right now for $75 the stealth cam is $100. But there’s like 50 different models

I'm currently running 8 spypoint cameras. I love them! They are all cell cameras and can be had for $150-$200 each .. that is with and without cell/12 battery. I am running both.

The service to your phone will run between $0 and $13 per month per camera and only while they are in use.

The down side: I can't stop looking at the new pictures when they come in.

The upside: not stinking up the camera sites by having to walk in to check them. Saving hundreds of dollars a year not driving the 45 miles one direction to go check them.

I like the Browning cameras the best. I have tried Primos, Bushnell, and Spypoint. All I use now is Browning.

I have Moultries and Cuddlebacks that are at least 8 years old that still give me good service. My property abuts 6000 acres of state land that I want to put camera's on but had one stolen a few years ago. This year I bought 2 cameras at Walmart for $28 each that gave excellent results and would be no great loss if stolen. They are small in size(about 3"x 4")dark in color and blend into the tree's. Pictures are clear but if are looking to blow them up they become grainy. Other wise a lot of bang for your buck's.

If you are not wanting videos, the 40 dollar Moultries are hard to beat. Relatively fast trigger speed pretty good picture and the battery lasts forever. I have several. I have owned several Brownings but it seems after a few years they do not want to recognize the sd card when I put them in.

BR, on the camera menu there should be a 'format' command, helps to do that every few change-outs.

I have reconyx cameras that have been running for twenty years never sent one back. I don't have any others that have lasted beyond 3 years. You get what ya pay for.

Thanks for all the replies. Mostly want to put it behind the house to see what’s there. Big Jim , so you can just subscribe to get pics sent to phones at times you want ? Can they be used like a regular camera , by pulling the sd card when not using the cell service

I've owned a dz cudduebaks. Not 1 lasted more than 2 seasons and zero customer service.

I don't know if you can do the sd card thing on the spypoint, but for $10 a month, you can get 1000 pics. Free for $100 pics. Service isn't through your cell, but through spypoint. Bigjim

Cell camera wise, Spypoint is really hard to beat. I think they have the best picture package available

They are all good. Until they dont work. Then they all suck! LOL. Mechanical piece of equipment designed to fail. No different than anything else.
