Currently shooting split finger with a cordovan tab without a divider. Was thinking of trying similar tab with the built in divider at the split. Anyone notice a difference in better arrow flight or a cleaner release with a divider ?

If you get bad arrow flight without one, you're doing something wrong; however, lots of people love them and they do help many folks be more comfortable on the string. My wife had one and loved it, I rarel use them but have and can if I feel like it. Only one person can tell if they're right for you and that person isn't us. :))

Don't think you could find an Oly archer that doesn't use one.

I liked the ones that King made. They had a felt spacer. For me, they were just right.

I make my own tabs, no divider/spacer. I switched from using a glove and was just used to the feeling of nothing between my fingers.

finsky -
I used to pinch the arrow pretty badly, which is why I don't use a spacer. For me it was just a crutch - so I had to learn to shoot without one to stop the pinching.
But ... everybody is different. The problem with that question though, is that you have no idea who is answering.
Viper out.

When I went to a tab, it had a spacer. It fell out one day and I couldn't find it. I continued to shoot without it. It definitely had poor affects on my shooting. Was I doing something wrong? Probably. Someday I will find a coach and fix a lot of things most likely. For now the spacer helps me a lot. wpab

I once lost the spacer from my tab and replaced it with a chunk of foam from one of those beer coolies. Glued it in and it's worked fine for many years now.

They can be helpful for some folks shooting a shorter bow. I don't use one now, but I am shooting a 64" Bear Take down...if I was shooting a Super Mag or Kodiak Mag I would probably go back to a spacer. Especially with the Super Mag. I could shoot without it if I remembered to spread my fingers a little before I drew the bow, the little spacer made it so I didn't have to remember.

I use them to help keep me from pinching the nock and also to catch and hold my tab. I use a palm tab setup.

The spacers can be a good thing as we're all built a bit different. I know a guy whose fingers are bent at odd angles and the spacer works well for him. Those who benefit from them or prefer them are not doing something wrong. There are many approaches and techniques to this sport and the guy who puts in his time and finds what works best for him is wise.

I shot one for a while and found I was pinching the nock anyway. Now I shoot a SAM and a deep hook and have none of the issues that I was trying to eliminate with the spacer.
As long as I don’t allow my index finger to shirk.

Finsky, I went to a split finger tab with a finger separator and it has helped me get a good clean release with touching the nock.

I build tabs. For simplicity I engineer them differently than whats currently vogue. Mine have no spacers if I build a "B" model. B uses a stiffer rubber membrane for backing and on short bows eliminates(for most folks) the need for a spacer. On all models, each finger has its own thong and cordlock. This eliminates the tab from twisting on release, as long as your hand doesnt do its own dance. Lastly, I don't face my tabs with cordovan. I use a softer close grain leather and apply a proprietary wax which I drive into the leather with heat. Then the face is buffed. Repeatedly. This results in enough slickness for a good release, but you can easily feel the string. Any bow 60 inches or shorter can be shot with model B more easily. Model A is for 62 and up. And yes, a little tip....apply your hook to the string. SLIGHTLY apply tension but move index and miidle finger very slightly apart AT THAT MOMENT. THEN activate your draw to a solid anchor. Anyhow...that's how I do it

I build my own tabs and include a spacer of leather. The tab face is cordovan and the backing is a softer leather. You can see that I leave enough of the backing leather on the two backing pieces to create a stall for each finger on either side of the spacer.

I shoot the Rick Barbee tabs with the rubber divider, and love them. The smoothest release I have found. I've always shot a split finger tab with the divider, and have not had great results without the divider. I keeps me from pinching the knock, and not getting a clean release.

I have two tabs. One has a thicker spacer. I shoot better and can shoot more with that one. With the thinner pad I am doing something more wrong than with the thicker one.
