Hey, I'm 68 going of 70. My shoulders hurt from years of pulling up a swing stage to paint billboards a hundred feet in the air, Splitting wood with a maul for 35 years as my primary heat source and shooting (foolishly) heavy bows. I live in a small rural town in extreme South New Jersey, We don't have trash pick up so are forced to hire a trash picker upper or take our own junk to the dump. We are also required to separate recyclables. Sometimes I can't help to notice good stuff being tossed. Couple years back I noticed a Chuck Norris Total Gym sitting in the used metal pile. Upon examination, it was a barely used, virtually new machine so I brought her home. Point is, I started using it a while back and it has really helped my shoulder flexibility, strength and comfort. I shoot a 50LB bow now instead of the high 60s and 70s I used to shoot, but I'm shooting my 50lb-er better and with a lot less pain then before I started stretching and strength training.

I’ve had one now for 25 years, uses your own body weight as resisting weight it is a great machine

Got mine at a tag sale and YES, great workout machine for shoulders. Having space to leave it open and ready is a plus, but from folded to open is maybe two minutes.

"Once I was young and foolish, now I'm old and foolisher"...Mark Twain.

I remember being able to handwalk around the gym in high school, back during the Kennedy Physical Fitness Program era. I'm betting that helped me for years...even decades afterward. Whatever works for you and keeps you healthy is a good thing, just be smart about it. Now I just pull my bows everyday and that seems to work.

Well, swing stag, haven’t heard that in a while. I feel your pain, spent 40 years as an industrial painter in NW Indiana. Glad to hear things are doing well for you.

I bet lots of guys couldn’t use one because if it uses your body weight they might not be able to lift their body weight. I have seen guys that could not do a push-up.

A buddy had one , it would most definitely work. Everyone regardless of age should be doing a resistance regimen. I fall apart quickly without one. And that is even working 6 10s living out of a 5th wheel. Most of the year, not a gym guy as I don't have the time.

Babysaph, it uses your body weight in increments, adjustable by the angle of the seat.. It goes from very easy to full body weight..

I know 20 year olds who likely can't do one pushup.

I have used one for 18 years. Great for shoulders and whole body.

The thing about exercise machines - they ALL work if you use it.

Good for you for keeping after it!

Age has nothing to do with strength. And thanks. Did not know it starts out with less than body weight. Sounds good

Wow where does the military get our guys? If 71 percent can’t do I wonder if the remaining 29 perc3nt want to do it? Does leave many left
