I came across an older selfbow that looks to be made from yew. It is marked: SK 45 28 Does anyone know who the maker may have been?

Need photos....that's the drill, and the only way we can try to decipher what it is.

No photos available. It is nothing special. SK stamped in the wood with 45 stamped directly under SK. And 28 stamped directly under 45.

Well, I don't know how we can help other than the 45-28 is obviously the weight at 28" draw, but without seeing the bow, the SK is meaningless to me...and we don't know for sure what it's made of, or if it had more identifying characteristics. Maybe someone can figure it out if they've had one similar.

If it's yew it may be significant, does it have a sapwood backing?

American Archery Co.

Btw, I don't know that for a fact, but saw SK linked to American Archery Co. more than once in a quick Google search. Maybe you can do some more digging under that name and come up with something.

I have an old yew bow at home I should check too.

Sorry, it’s 50 (not 45)

That appears to be more of a glued on backing. Can we see a full length side view?

It's lemonwood backed with fiberglass....1950's. Yes, Jeff has it, American Archery.

Found it at a pawn shop about an hour away. It shot pretty decent but, I knew nothing about it or it’s worth. Any ideas about value? (Not that I need another bow on the wall; LOL)

No real value.

Value is nil since no one really wants them except to hang on a wall in a cabin or such. Just enjoy it, you won't get rich buying and selling old lemonwood bows that sold for about $7.95 new.

Thanks for the replies.
