I have just about talked myself into a Samick Discovery ILF bow. I originally was going to buy just the riser and purchase a set of limbs separately but it seems to be a bit of a savings to purchase it complete with Samick limbs. There are two options, carbon with wood core and carbon with foam cores. Foam cores cost about $50.00 more than wood cores. Is there enough difference between the two to warrant getting the foam limbs? I draw 28" and am going to get either 60" or 62" length, leaning toward 60". Will 62" give me any benefit to consider? My main interest is just a simple hunting rig with maybe a bear weatherest to shoot from.

Material difference won't matter. The 62" bow will have a more forgiving string angle which will be beneficial.

Go to alternative services website...they are out of England, but there prices and service is unmatched. I've ordered a bunch of stuff from there with no problem. Remember, they are in Europe and I once ordered a pair of limbs on Friday and they were at my house Tuesday...I don't even know how that was possible. Anyway, my point is the R1 and R3 limbs are the same price from them. $105. Nice limbs, I have a pair. Good luck!

I just ordered it, Muddy Oak riser with 50 lb 60" R3 limbs. I went with the medium limbs as this will primarily be set up as a hunting bow. If all works out I may order a set of long limbs in a lighter weight for 3d. As for rests I just ordered the Hoyt super rest to keep it simple. I've only ever shot off the shelf or with a Bear Weatherest so I'm not really sure what other rests I should use with this riser.

Hoyt Super rest is simple and solid.

I have both sets, foam core is noticeably smoother. Both are very good quality. No complaints. I had the riser too but got rid of it. Went with a trad tech titan instead.
