Hey guys Ive just had success in putting flip tips on a selfbow. the bow is 68in long. when laying flat on my bench the tips are 1 and 1/2 in off the bench. what length string do I need?

I would start with none about 66" until I tinkered with it a while. Then after I got original hollered I would measure the string and make one.

Start tillering with a long string. Keep shortening it as you tiller until you get to full brace height. Measure the tillering string at that point. That's how I do it. If you don't know how to make strings, you should learn. It's not too hard. If you are making selfbows it's very convenient to be able to twist up a string the exact length that you need. Good luck with your bow!
