Yep. Steve Hulsey started the magazine in 1989.
Nice magazine if you like primitive archery. I don't think it's as good as it once was however.

I met most of my best friends in my life on that site many years ago. I don't use it anymore because its not secure and soon it wont be supported by our browsers. This site is right behind them in regard to insecurity. Update or go down is looming.

All the forums have been in a big decline as far as traffic and participation goes. But back in the day Primitive Archer was the go to n most busiest site. If you wanted to keep up with the traffic there you had to be on every hour of the day if you didn't wanna miss any of the action. Heck before it was number one leatherbrawl ruled...lol.

I have really enjoyed my time there. I’ve meet really good people. Learned so many things about so many things.
They have a Bow section that is probably its most popular section.
They have a arrow section that I learned so much from.
They have a flint knapping section
A primitive skills section
A forge section
There’s a hunting and shooting section that I found helpful and some neat hunting stories and pictures to. Also lots of good tips.
A around the campfire section where you can start any topic as long as it isn’t politics or religion.
There are a few simpler rules to keep thing civil. Also no selling anything. There is however a trade section where you can offer trades or ask for something you would like to trade for.
Like Arvin said. A bunch of the same old grumpy guys as on here that really know how to make selfbows and would like nothing more than to see others learn their secrets.
It’s a little bit of a hassle to make your first couple post with some questions you answer to stop spammers but after a few post that goes away.
It ebbs and flows. I have meet a lot of people there. Some have gone. Some find another interest. Some have gone to other social media places. Some have left for the reason Pearl mentioned, Some have gone to the happy hunting grounds. There are always new ones joining to.
Right now I would say the site is a bit slow. But I hope it stays up and maybe draws some of my old friends back. I know they are supposed to get a new more secure server

Oh they also have a build along section where people did all kinds of build alongs. They are invaluable. Unfortunately some of the older ones are missing the pictures. That’s a real bummer. Bjrogg
Also a section for events and meets

It is my main go to place to learn and help provide bow making information.
Years ago we saw some really poorly made and tillered bows posted on the site, man, things have changed as wood bow making knowledge has advanced. Now you see down right works of art and staves that were never intended for a bow because of all the flaws turned into marvelously tillered bows.
What these guys are turning out now is downright amazing. There are some european bowyers on the site that always produce flawless bows.
There has been a lot of experimenting in heat treating and reflexing staves that has advanced selfbow making in leaps and bounds. All is chronicled on the PA site.
It is a great place to haunt if you are thing about making a selfbow and are a little short on knowledge.
Look up the bow of the month contest to see just how good these guys are.

Well everything is a chore for a new guy on that site. What’s with those silly questions? I still haven’t been able to post anything. Pictures? That’s a chore too. Didn’t have that much trouble getting on stickbow. Sounds like it’s worth the trouble though.

They are working on up grades and to secure the site, just takes a little time, also the questions go away after a few times, it is meant to keep the spammers off, the spammers are not going to answer questions to be able to post, to many easier places for them and it seem to be working, very little spam. It's like anywhere else once you learn the ropes it's easy to get around on it and lots of info for sure.Pic. just need to be down sized and you can only post 4 at a time other than that fairly easy, if I can get around on it , anyone can. LOL.What I like about it is it is a peaceful place [mostly] No religion, politics,no name calling , you can voice you opinion but everyone is nice about it, just a nice change from a lot I have seen. Well I don't know how to down size photo's so it is a problem on any site that I get on that doesn't do it for you. This site does that so it is easy for me.
But PA is still a pretty good site to view.

I guess I have to downsize here to Jon. Must not require quite as much of a downsize as PA though. Sometimes they will post here but not there . I just use a downsizing app on my phone. I change amount of pixels but not size of photo.
Bjrogg
PS like Pappy said. If I can do it I’m pretty sure anyone can figure it out.

I guess that's why I view a lot more than I post on the PA site. Extra steps to post pics. I made a folder to store pics that have been reduced just for PA so I don't have to do again. I do like the fact that I can post multiple pics per post though. John
