After taking numerous deer and one 402 class elk, I decided to shoot traditional. Wanted to take a deer with a bow I made my self. Well I went from the time I started traditional three years ago without taking any big game animal. Well at age 73 I had a great experience. I struggled for three year, shot a few thousand arrows, broke numerous bow I made. I nearly gave up and went back to the compound numerous time. I just managed to hang in there. I guess if there are bowhunters that are discouraged, don't give up. You will have the same experience that I had of watching an arrow shot from a bow that maybe you made go clear to the fletching in the vitals of a nice deer whether a buck or doe. The selfbow was just my goal. Do not want to make a big deal out of that, because there are so many good quality bow out there to use and I enjoy them also.

I took these three at the end of archery season. Was too busy with work to get out but was fortunate with the limited time I had. Shot this guy at 12 yards. Pinwheeled him and down in 60 to 70 yards. Went back to the longbow this year

Shot this one at 10 to 12 yards. Made a good shot but her head was up still when I was following up so I backed out and let her lay overnight. Coyotes got one hindquarter but the rest was perfect.

By far my best deer in 2020. I lost my best friend and father in 2019 who was one of the greatest bowhunters I’ve ever known and most importantly one of the greatest humans to have walked our earth. A group of my closest friends got together and had this original silvertip redone on behalf of my dad - they gave it to me on the anniversary of his death at 3:13pm. I balled my eyes out - shot 5 arrows through it, hugged my friends (who were hunting with me that afternoon) and arrowed this yearling with it at 5:35pm. Sept 2020 - Peacewinds.

Simply some wonderful 2020 successes! I missed a couple of questions coming to me on the thread. Are those all 2020 kills? Answer is yes - all on my SO Tx Lease. Are those MN kills? Answer is no all killed in TX - I'm still chasing a couple of giants in MN and WI though. On a plane now heading back to TX for a couple of days!!!

God bless and stay safe,

Mingo

Looking good y’all !! I haven’t released an arrow yet at an animal. I have been a little picky this year. BUT I have spent most of my hunting season taking my daughters. They are 8 & 12. They bothed killed there first deer this year . Each of them killed a 6 point . This is my best hunting season being able to share that with them ! They are both hooked now . LOL. They were using there BOOM STICK but in a couple years they will be pulling enough draw weight to get after them with there bows.
