Tentative planning 12 1/2 hour drive? kinda rough will see as gets closer

From: John Sullins
Date: 20-Nov-20

There are a couple of hills. I am 72 with very bad knees and I was able to walk the courses without a lot of trouble. Courses are mostly wooded, also along edge of field. Very nice targets and courses in my opinion. Targets are set at reasonable distances. I hate really close shots but none too close here. A couple of longer shots at Elk etc. Overall, I think almost everyone would enjoy the course and the people running the event. If you can make it, go and have a good time. Let's hope we have good weather like last year.

Brassbandit, sadly, you just got this thread shut down. You are not even from this country, and GLF has been a valued member of this site many years longer than you. What the h*ll do you know about U.S. culture and politics? Keep your cold- a** political nose north of the border. I, for one, don’t want your smug opinions.

Leonard Fitzgerald , we will update this thread as we have vendors committed. As of right now we Have Big Jim's Bow Company, Black Widow Bows, BCY Strings, Asbell Wool said they would be back. As mentioned earlier there is a good chance Bear Archery will be there this year. We have several local vendors, knive makers and carvers flint knappers and so on. There should be someone there selling anything archery related you might need. Thanks for the interest.

Thanks for the question Jeff Jones.

There is actually 12 classes all together including the youngsters and the Seniors

Self Bows / Primitive bows may shoot wood or cane arrows only. Recurves or Longbows may shoot Wood, Aluminum, or Carbon arrows

Buck Hollow Rules and Classes Anchor Points Archers shall have only one anchor point. String walking is not allowed. The index finger must touch the arrow either above or below the arrow. No Sights No Mechanical Releases No Stabilizers or Visual aids (Binoculars or Monocular)

Buck Hollow intends to have a Family atmosphere so the use of loud foul language is not tolerated. Any person using loud foul language or abusive language causing a scene shall be asked to leave. Brad Smith I think I remember you. You were making self bows and bringing them to the Sportsman Store when we shot the indoor league I think. You should come back and visit. The Buck Hollow Bunch is that same core group that all shot down there and at Montgomery Bell. Hope all is well with you and you have a happy new year.

We got some great news yesterday from the Black Widow folks. They are donating a Bow, either Grey Bark, Autumn Oak or Green Leaf. The winners choice. If you want to upgrade to an exotic wood or get any extras the winner can spring for the difference. So if you come out to the Spring Fling and you will have a chance at going home with a brand new Black Widow. De sure and be on the look at how to win it when you get there. Those Black Widow guys and gals are some pretty awesome folks! Big thanks to Toby and Roger.

William Leeming we will have a senior mens class. You maybe shooting a long bow against a guy with a recurve. We also have a senior women class too ,same applies there. We will have back stops behind most of the targets. There will be some bonus shots to where you may lose or destroy an arrow. I would bring a couple of old ones along! Looking forward to it.

As most of you know around the country Michigan has a great traditional archery following w/ one day events all year and camping shoots all summer. We had a great turn out despite the rain. It held off enough for most to get out and enjoy the course. We were able to get the kids shoot in and that was great to see. The kids are our future, and we love seeing this each year at Buck Hollow. Thanks to everyone that made it out and supported us. I will try and have the scores up by Wednesday, they will be on our Face Book page. We had 264 registered shooters despite the weather. God is Good!
