Taking the osage bow out tomorrow so we'll see what the day brings.

From: altitude sick

John that bow has some nice lines.

I’ve been close so far but no cigar. I’ve tightened the string on a few does and and a small buck. They just didn’t follow the script. I need them at 20 and under.

One of my goals this year was to take a deer with my selfbow. Not going to happen. Sept 26th while I was in Georgia hunting for gold my pole barn burned down and selfbow and river cane arrows with obsidian heads were lost in the fire along with a lot my other stuff.

Here is a doe I was able to take tonight. She came through about 10 yards out. I was 10 feet up in a big Hemlock, with a lot of cover around me. Got her through both lungs with a footed cedar arrow, with a Woodsman broad head. I made the bow from a piece of Osage a friend gave me. 50# @ 28”.

He isn't much in the antler department but I shot this guy with an osage bow I made from a tree I cut down about 250 yards from where I shot him. I used a stone head and the wound is the exit. I was unable to recover the head so hopefully an archer many years from now will find it!

it's not a trophy, but the poor doe had some major damage done to her top neck and shoulders...I could smell the rot at 10 yards. You could even see her backbone. She went about 50 yards after the shot.

Awesome thread

From: altitude sick
Date: 07-Feb-21

Brian, I use small binoculars to scan and find rabbits, moving very slowly. picking apart brush piles or briars to see them. It’s very exciting to find a rabbit sitting and trying to get a clear shot before it runs. So I get big game stalking Patrice on rabbits. I fling an arrow at them if they break. But I’m usually behind them or hit brush instead. But man it’s fun.
