I haven't got my wood stove in yet. I have the stove and all the pipes but I'm waiting on the hearth that I ordered. I've been going up there on week ends ,night before last it got down in the mid 30's. Luckily I have a Hudson Bay blanket and a buffalo robe to keep me warm

My wife was an outdoor woman, she loved the outdoors and hunting with her longbow or traditional muzzleloader.

Some years ago her and I spent a week together at ShrewHaven in the U P in the late muzzleloading season. She loved the rustic atmosphere of the cabin's gas lights and wood heat. Even though it got really cold some of the days she suggested we spend the rest of the winter there. I said, but honey the snow gets really deep and we'd be stranded. She said, that's ok we've got two deer hanging and we could chop through the ice in the creek for water.......how could you help loving a woman like that.

I have her ashes in the little "RedBird's Nest" cabin. Some may think it strange but it gives me comfort thinking she's there with me.

Ron, I agree with Grizz. I believe it very comforting. Nancy Would want to be there with you. It's a tough deal loosing your spouse. Life ain't never the same.

I have a peaceful, down home feeling inside just looking at the picture of that cabin. I really enjoyed reading this:

She said, that's ok we've got two deer hanging and we could chop through the ice in the creek for water.........

Can't wait to see pictures of the stove installed with a nice fire going.

Like others have said Ron, nothing at all strange about that. You had a great wife. And Frisky mountain men don't need much heat.

Heart warming Ron, you both were lucky to have each other and your spirits are together still.

Really great, and special photos. There is nothing strange at all about having her ashes there. I can relate. I keep my wife's ashes close too. That was her wish-- I honor it. I fully understand the feeling of keeping her close.
