Definitely one of my influences. I was proud to know him and become friends with him and his family. BTW; it’s Glenn that gave me my handle that I use here. Thanks for remembering him today Ron. Lance

One of the greatest influences and ambassadors that archery will ever know. Even with his passing, his writings are still a huge influence. He was one of the greats.

One of the greatest influences the sport of bow hunting has ever had.

As an aside, I have his daughter build my cedar arrows. She is a 'great' in her own right as an arrowsmith.

I love that picture of Glen that Moleman 1 posted. Every time I see it I wonder if he was successful on that particular hike up that mountain. Thanks Mr. LaClair for the reminder.

I was fortunate enough to meet not only Glenn St. Charles, but the entire family. In 1989 I was on a road trip from California to Washington to visit my then brother in law. Hugh Rich suggested we stop by Northwest Archery and see the St. Charles family.

We got a very warm welcome and Joe opened the museum for us. We got to see the apartment Glenn and his wife lived in above the store.

Great people.

I used to call in sick.....I was a teacher....and spend the morning in Glenns’ shop and museum. I spent a lot of money there, mostly on arrow making supplies. I even explored his hunting area at Nason Creek near Stevens Pass in WA State. Read some of his works.......he was a great writer and an inspiration to many archers. Richard

Thanks for posting Ron, and totally agree with above statements on his life. The pictures are great also. Met him at ETAR and talked with him when he was signing "Bows of the Little Delta" books.

I met Glen a couple times at a shoot in Michigan, what an honor it was, he signed an osage longbow i had built, and the wife and i had our picture taken with him, it was a pleasure to meet and talk to him. He asked where we were from, i told him ne Wisconsin, he says, so you are one of them treehuggers that sit in trees waiting for deer to walk by, then he laughed, i said, yup, thats what we do.Lol What a treasure of a man!

I hope this picture posts OK. I took a picture of a picture and hope I got it sized right. This picture was taken at a PBS banquet in Wheeling, West Virginia many years ago. Tom Cole is on the left, Glen, then me, and on the right is Mike Fedora. I was honored to meet Glen in person and found him to be a very friendly, accommodating fellow. Truly a great asset to archery and bow hunting.

Jay Massey introduced me to Glenn at a PBS banquet many years ago. As I reached out to shake his hand before I could say a word, Glenn said, "Ron LaClair I've been wanting to meet you" That blew me away.

One year when Glenn came to Michigan for the Compton Rendezvous he stopped at my Archery Shoppe. I had him sign my two St Charles quivers

Ed Meyer and I worked with him on obtaining new archery areas across the state, and of course I had a business relationship with Glenn for years. He was a true gentleman and a driving force for the expansion of archery across the nation. The entire St. Charles family shows the influence of their father and mother. Here's a picture of Glenn showing he had other interests besides archery.

What a great person and storyteller. I've read Bows on the Little Delta several times. I enjoy the book even more each time I get to read.

Glenn came to the Compton Rendezvous every year until his health wouldn't let him. Glenn was the man responsible for the Compton organization and naming it after Chief Compton

There was some resistance to the name Compton and it caused a split off and another club formed. In the end The Compton organization prevailed. Even in his later years Glenn was a forceful man and usually got his way

Glen and I first met in 1957 in his archery shop; I liked him right from the start. You didn't have to wonder what was on his mind, he would tell you! One time at a shoot He said you smell like beer! Glen used my crestors for over 40 years, Susanne may still be using them. Miss you Glen
