Many years ago I bought this bow but was never able to identify it.

It has a reflex/deflex riser. The limbs have long tip wedges and feature very tight weave woven glass. Overlays are green and white glass.

I knew from the glass that the bow was likely made in the mid to late 50's but could not narrow down the maker.

I am shooting the bow on my Facebook profile picture. ( That is the picture that is attached to this post.)

Steve Smith, who is bearbowman on this site) saw my picture and advised me that it looks like a Brahma bow and described some of the features.

He was correct. It was made in Elkins, West Virginia by a company called the Brahma Bow Company.

Of note, Merle Wimer won the 1957 NFAA National Women's Championship shooting one.

Appreciate Steve solving this mystery!

Here's a pic of the riser...the bow is light for its length.

Whole bow...it is a pleasure to shoot.

I found an ad online in the December 1957 Eastern Bowhunter but I cannot transfer it to this page

Thanks for looking!

Thanks for showing that Peter. I’m not tech savvy but I did the best I could to post the ad from 1957. Beautiful bow!

Yay Steve!

Peter, I knew you did not know the name of this bow before. It always reminded me a little of the tri State State Turk at some level though.

Interesting, and glad you found out. That Mr. Smith is a good guy!

Looks like a horsebow and a target recurve got a little too close together in a dark, secluded place. I like it.

Very nice,,not surprising that Steve knew what it was. Interesting design for the riser. You've got quite a collection of some very nice bows Pete, congrats.

Pdiddly, what are it's specs....length? draw weight?

Can you post a pic of the unbraced profile?

I will do that tomorrow...48# @28" is the draw weight. believe it is 70" but will check.

Seattle Archery Distributors used that color for bows in late 1950 and 1960s. Exact color of green.

That is a neat story. Cool looking bow. I at one point in my life lived near Elkins, WV.

Thanks, Pdiddly, but no need to now.....unless you just want to show it off some more. :-)

Seneca & EZ, thanks for showing the ads and history.

Steve
