A friend of mine just just recently let me know he had some interest in wanting to learn how to shoot a bow. So I gave him a 40# all fiberglass long bow and some arrows. We set up an old mattress against a dead tree and shot some arrows at it. He said he had fun and wants to do it again.

Then he started hitting the target. Well he said he had fun and wants to do it again. He also told me he ordered an arm guard. ;)

I’m going to let him try out an all fiberglass recurve and see if he likes it better next time we shoot.

Good on you.... but yeah, fix him up with an armgaurd. ;))

Most people say its not fun after string rash like that. Kudos for keeping on!

After he gets an arm guard, you might also help him with his grip and form. String burn looks pretty far uphill arm like he’s rolling his arm in. Good on you for getting him started.

Yea I say he needs a armguard. Good for you for helping out!??

Its always great to introduce a friend to our way of shooting.

Armguard won't help that. Too high up the arm.,work on his form.

Good for you for helping out.

Also what Brian and Jack said. You could get him a long arm guard, but that's a form problem. He's new, so it's not totally unexpected. Looks like my wife's arm when she started shooting!

We have all hit our arms at one time or another. He did that on his first 3 shots. He will get better. ;)

He’s already telling me he wants to go for ground hogs. Here I thought he just wanted to target shoot. Possibly another hunter.:)

Love teaching new folks, I remember the archery arm brands of long ago, including the feather slices on my bow hand. memories were good teachers!
