What would cause a bow to require an extremely high nock height. i shot a bow recently that had the nock point on the string at well over 1" - probably 1 1/2" above horizontal. The bow shot pretty good, but when I tried the nocking point down closer to what i would consider "normal", the arrow flight was terrible with the arrow flying very nock high, and hitting several (15") inches high. I was shooting arrows that I assumed would be in the proper spine range for the bow and my actual draw weight.

Low -
IF it actually tuned that way, from a shooter with conventional form, the tiller on the bow would have to be pretty far off. Why that could be, could be a number of reasons.
Viper out.

What I find is,the more positive the tiller is the higher the nocking point has to be. Shooting 3 under makes it even worse. 1/8 positive tiller seems to be the max I can shoot with out a bow being very noisy & requiring a high nocking point. Even tiller will shoot split or 3 under just fine for me. Every one may vary a little. >>>>-----> Ken

The arrow shooting high with the lower nock point makes perfect sense You lower the rear of the arrow, you raise the front. Increases the point on distance.
The rest not so much.

how does the arrow nock fit take it back down and tie a bottom nock and see. arrow nock could be sliding down the string on release plus over spin could help adding to the problem.

I was going to say stiff spine or weak spine can cause it also . For me shorter bows shooting 3 under causes me to have to run a higher nocking point .

I’m going to play with it more, it’s just that I’ve seen such a high nock point height and drastic results with a more “normal” nock point.
I’m shooting three under, and I have no idea what the tiller is. It is not a custom bow, so I’m assuming the tiller is nothing out of the ordinary. I will look at it next time I shoot it though.

A Martin Mamba is a beautiful recurve but requires a mocking point to be incredibly high. They were very popular a few years ago but every buyer had that same complaint.

I have a Super Kodiak that shoots nock high. I had to put something under the rug to get it to behave somewhat. Still way loud. I'm following this one.

As far as I can tell, the bow has an even tiller. I don't believe it is tiller related. The previous owner stated that he set the nock point that high because that's how he liked it.
I use two nock points (one over arrow, one under arrow), but when I was adjusting nock height, I only used one nock point above the arrow, so I suspect the arrow is sliding down the string as JFH stated. I have a new string coming that I should get better nock fit with, so we'll see what I can do with it then.
Thanks,
