I have been shooting 3 under since 2003 when I started coaching/teaching NASP.
Last month, I had some wood arrows with nocks that were not tight enough to shoot 3 under so I put on a glove and shot split finger.
Well, 3 weeks into shooting split fingers I am shooting much better than when shooting 3 under. I am getting a better release evidenced by fewer misses right or left. Couldn't be more pleased.
Anyone else have a similar experience?

I've been shooting split since the 1950's and it works just as well as any hold. For me there is no advantage to shooting 3 under.

Split fingers only, shot 3 under for a while but didn’t care for it.

I've been shooting split finger for the 51 years I've been shooting a bow. I've seen no reason to change. It works for me.

Everything about my form is in line with split finger, bow canted, anchor middle finger to eye tooth. Anything else is like an out of body experience. I just cant do anything else

I spent most of my life shooting split finger. But now shoot 3 under and with a fixed crawl. I shoot much more consistently than ever before. I think it comes down to what make you comfortable. I'm sure body mechanics comes into play as well as build. But whatever works for you, if it works for you. Your right!

The other factor I didn't think to mention is that I am not holding at anchor as long. More Fred Asbell or Randy Grider like form. Pick your mentor.
I made that change because of a neck issue. Seems to be helping.

Danel, i too have found that when i shoot split it seems to take less perceived effort on my part to shoot down the line-- lefts and rights seem to take care of themselves. Ive also never shot a bow that feels better to me than when i shoot it split finger.
That said, 3 under works best for my mostly 30 yds and in world. My scores are higher, my vertical misses are fewer, and my confidence on game is much more solid and shots more precise. Most things in life are a bit of a compromise and archery is no different--- find the way to shoot that gives you the most pluses and make it your own. The only way to find out what's going to work for you is to be open minded enough to try different things.

No reason to limit yourself to one or the other. I'm mostly a split finger shooter, but have recently taken to shooting 3-under for close shots (20 yards and in).

LOL! I didn't see this post, as I hadn't been viewing. I wrote up my ban 3 under post and posted it. Now, I see this!

Not enough experience between the two methods to say one is better than the other for me. Just know that split works pretty good and has for a long time. Did play around with three under after some suggestions from a coach when I was a young fellow for field archery to shoot those short 10yd and under to 20yd targets. Don't think I ever saw him shoot three under. Did three under again a few back for a winter but went back to being comfortable (with split) . Think I killed just as many paper plates one way as the other.

I tried it a couple times and didn't like it, could not get used to it. Never had a problem with split finger hook. I think a lot of shooters are doing it because it's the "in" thing to do, or someone (you-tube) told them that's how you do it.

Alot of guys pluck the string 3under. That's why so many say their bows got noisier. I have no clue why but it gf happens to quite a few. So yeah makes sense to me.

I have been shooting split for 50 years. On a good day I keep up with the compound boys out to 30 yards.

Frisky, as usual you're a day late, a dollar short, cat-less and ended the season with all your tags!
