I know this has been asked before but what is the safest way to remove the writing off of gold tip blems?

From: Flyman

I use acetone.

Isn't acetone safe?

I don't like the writing either, I opted to use roll on arrow wraps with adhesive backing to make a unique "cresting" on my arrows.

Acetone and a green scratchy pad. Works great.

I used Goop-Off, then clean with alcohol. Then I hurt my shoulder and couldn't shoot for I while. Then I forgot if they were 500 or 600 spine.

Acetone and 0000 steel wool or scrub pad.

I use denatured alcohol and 000 steel wool. Works perfectly.

I used a Mr clean eraser. It takes a few minutes but once it starts working, it cleans up nice.

If you don't want to use Acetone you can get non-acetone nail polish remover at the dollar store. It's been a while since I used it but it seemed to work just as well and as fast as Acetone. - John

I had heard that acetone could affect the shaft strength. Might ask Gold Tip to be on the safe side. Seen too many pictures of splinted carbon shafts sticking out of hands. Yikes

I shot clear through a deer with rhe writing on.,did not slow the arrow up.

Why take the writing off? Does it make the arrow lighter? LOL

From: Jon Stewart
Date: 02-May-20

Lots of questions as to why take it off. Probably the same reason some crest their arrows, use wraps, use this color feather or that color nock. It's a personal choice and for me they they look better. Of course removing the lettering doesn't effect the flight of the arrow.

I use acetone and 0000 steel wool.

I have not had an issue with using Acetone, Laquar thinner, fletch Laq thinner and I have been taking the writing off the shafts since day one. Only thing I have found that weakens a carbon shaft is my 1200 watt heat gun on high. I have yet to try the citrus based paint removers. I have used it to remove Laq paints from aluminums but not sure if it would remove the woodgrain pattern. The stuff is safer on your hands if that is a concern. It doesn’t eat away the disposable gloves either.

Scotch pad and dawn dish soap

Just checked my quiver GT arrows, the writing is mostly missing. Worn off by passing through targets, 3D animals and across the arrow rest?

I've used Commet Cleanser. It was Viper's idea.

Acetone and a paper towel.

To remove print from carbon shafts, I bury them in damp sandy soil, get online and order cedar or spruce shafts. Ain't I funny?

From: hookman
Date: 03-May-20

Hilarious.

From: Glunt@work

Cedar and spruce are fine if you are into modern materials. Carbon has been around maybe millions of years :^)

From: George D. Stout

Carbon the fiber, and carbon the element are as different as are a frog and a hubcap. And FYI, aluminum, by mass, makes up over 8% of the Earth's crust. :^)

From: Babysaph

I'd just paint em. Lol

From: Glunt@work

Aluminum is great but mostly smelted in China and thats a touchy subject lately :^)

Deer are taught at a young age to read what's written on arrow shafts & bows.

What about oven cleaner and a rag for removing arrow logos. If I did not like the writing/logos on arrows,I would not buy them.
