18* deg. high temp, below zero wind chills, and flurries. To cold to shoot so what do you do? Well I've prepared an old 52' Grizz for a new grip, stained some shafts, fletched some shafts, done some repairs on old shafts and am getting ready to twist up a couple of Flemish strings while things are drying. With a few cold libations and a bit of incentive, this sport offers plenty for the do it your yourselfer.

Doing the same here too about running out of projects . Can shoot 9 yards in the basement getting mighty deadly at that range

I have a 20 yard range set up in my basement. It's not fancy but it's functional.

Stalk the missus...she's not very fast, doesn't cover her tracks well and hides in the same places every time. Maybe she wants to be caught...nahhhhh, but it's a nice thought.

Yep... I’m stripping feathers and re-fletching arrows that don’t need it...

Well, I shot outside today, well below freezing, using my yew ELB, so I’d say those old wives tales about not shootin’ yew selfbows in temps below freezing are bunk.

well,call me crazy,but

i went to a trad only 3d shoot today :)

high of 22 degrees and 15mph wind with 30mph gusts :)

Gerald Welch made and maybe still does make yew selfbows in Alaska, and he hunts there too with them. There are a lot of old wive's tales about selfbows. At one time, they said lemonwood was fragile and would break easily, I found that to be wrong as well.

I also have a 20 yard range in my basement.

Need to fletch up a bunch of cedars that I stained and sealed more than a year ago. Sometimes when I can’t shoot I just string up a bow, pull it a few times, and then just sit there and look at it. I just like being around bows and arrows!

Our temps were in the mid 50's today, SO.. I did a bit of roving and cleared some more on our new property we are building on. We reached up to mid 70's yesterday and was down to about 30 this morning. I think Texas is one of the few places where it is possible to have summer and winter only a day apart. Almost 90 to 9 in 24hrs. LOL IF we ever have the frozen stuff this year I'll get some arrows re-finished. :-D

Still shooting our season ends the 31st, usually have the public areas to myself for archery hunting only areas.Very few like the late season. The parking area is empty when I get there and maybe one other truck or car is there when I come out.

LOL!!

I only wish I could do something about crowds.

I don't watch sports. Haven't watched a minute of football since 1979.

I have the game lands and state parks all to myself this time of year... and the best part... no ticks!

When I'm not out there, I might be down at the club shooting or in the shop working on bows, guns, or their accouterments. I have a long list of projects this winter.

I make bows in the winter, and lucky to have clubs close enough that I can shoot target 2 times a week indoors, and 3d once a week indoor.
