so the take a minute to take a good pic thread had great replies....lets start one here for your fav hunting picture. Doesnt mean it has to be your biggest critter ( but it could be lol)....but just your fav, for whatever reasons. Feel free to say why its your fav.

I know we likely have several that tie for first haha....but try and pick just one,

I's say this is mine.

I guess because it was a smasher. Impala are just so beautiful. And mostly....because of the sunset.

Sunsets in Africa are spectacular.

IMO I had just the right amount of light left...later too dark. Earlier likely full of glare.

My first archery harvest in Oregon. 1985. Shot with wheels not a trad bow, I didn't return to traditional archery until the early 90's. Not sure why we hung the hide, pictures I guess, but glad that we did because in made for some good pictures of a big bear.

My first long-beard with my longbow spring 2018. I also like the black and white pics. The story is the best part. I had apparently sat in a nest of seed ticks and had to strip down to get the masses off of me when I heard this guy drumming and coming in. I grabbed the bow and got still. Shot was all of 10ish yards.. The mile and a half back to camp was terribly uncomfortable and as soon as I made it I got fresh clothes.

Not archery releated but it was and still is one of my best days ever. My wife's first Pheasant hunt. She got about 6-7 boxes of shells through a .410 over a week and we went for it. She got 3 birds out of 8 shots. Not too bad:)

Here's where my hunting and photography first came together, many years ago.

It is only the deer head, but a couple of hours earlier I used it to put a fright in my boss. He was in a small office with the desk facing the door. I stood to the side of the opening and slowly moved the head into the opening and grunted. When he screamed like a little girl, the whole shop had a good laugh.

Favorite bow hunting pic. First turkey with bow, a jake. Washington State, around 2001. Called him into a jake and hen decoy, he flew down, I was hiding next to a bushy pine tree, and pinned him to the ground through the base of the neck at 15 yds. I have other favorite ones, but this is the best bow one.

This picture has become my favorite. This picture hangs on my office wall as do the antlers. This was the last picture taken of my little buddy Jake and it was his last deer. You can see blood on his muzzle. That was always his treat when he tracked a deer. A week after this photo was taken, we had to put Jake down. It still tears me up.

I have a print by Michael Sieve , called Chip Shot .. It represented my dream hunt for many years. Every time I looked at it I thought someday. In 2017 my second year hunting in SK Canada with Rob Nye it came true. When I crawled into the stand on day three everything was brown. It started snowing early and by three it was solid white. I was tucked up in a stand under a spruce tree. At 3;30 it all came together. Ill never forget that feeling.

We had just moved north because of a new job. We rented a small acreage until we were secure. The place was surrounded by bush w farm fields across the road. I was working night shift. I didn’t have a lot of time to find hunting spots yet and even to hunt. Having lunch together as a family one day during peak of the rut my daughter Amy looks out the patio door and says “Dad there’s a deer in the yard” I got up to have a look and saw a small buck cruising. I put on some boots and grabbed my bow by the back door. I went to the corner of the house and looked around it just in time to see him walking along the fence. I backed up a bit and got an arrow on the string. As he came in view I shot and he ran off. I knew it was a good hit. Went back inside and finished lunch. Afterwards I took Amy along to track. We found him in short order. We gutted him and dragged him back to the yard where Mom took a few pix. In this shot she was overcome w emotion. It was a nice moment as she gave me a hug.
