Helmsman Spar Varnish Polyurethane. I understand Gloss is the hardest. I usually use OOOO steel wool as final step and it becomes a very smooth satin finish. Done 10 or more bows this way and no problems.

I use Minwax semigloss poly in a rattle can. 4 coats...then wait 3 days. Check for problems.....hit them lightly with a green Scotchbrite pad, and spray on a few more coats. Riichard

All of the answers youhave received so far work just peachy.
Min-Wax wipe on poly works like a charm as weel. As does a combination of 50% Boiled Linseed Oli and 50% shellac.
Birchwood Casey Tr-Oil works well also.

I’ve used wipe-on poly on every kind of bow, whether a self bow, or a laminated glass/wood bow, even all fiberglass. It’s pretty idiot proof. Many thin coats, lightly steel wooled ultra fine in between coats. That’s worked well for me. I’m not good with gloss rattle cans. Spray lacquer is easy too, but it can’t be humid when you’re spraying it on.
