I am starting to make plans to go to Southeast Alaska June 2021 on a spring bear hunt. If anyone has been, I would appreciate some tips. Especially on rain gear. Thanks

Tradbo… unless you're wed to Alaska... I'd consider Canada as a cheaper alternative. I've hunted bear in both places... and Alberta is where I'll be going back to. Just a thought. Best of luck.

Helly Hansen is good stuff, but it is getting expensive now too, because its catching on with the 'In crowd'.

Went in 2010. Total blast! Homer Ocean Charters. Super people, fed us like kings. Bears were on the beaches eating grass. Afternoon hunting. Spot and stalk from land and the boat. A little tough with the bow. They said come back in the fall for closer shots but the table fare was poor as the bears would be on the fish. Good luck! Matthew

Have been on 2 southeast bear hunts. 1 spring and 1 fall. Although not much hunting time I spend 100+ days a year in southeast Alaska working at a lodge; all of which are outside.I have been in all weather, from 75 degrees for weeks straight to 45 and pouring for weeks straight. Rain gear can make or break a hunt, rubber is Supreme. Its strong, always waterproof. But does not lend well to lots of hiking due to sweating. Breathable rain gear from the high tech companies have treated me fine for hunting, but they do not lend well to the thick devils club forests or in and out of boats with potential snags. Depending on the type of hunt give consideration to a pair of breathable fishing waders as well. If in and out of a boat they are fine, walking the beaches and salmon streams they are comfortable. Any questions shoot me a pm
