Anyone used ash for limb cores, and what's your experience been with it?

Thanks, I am going to give it go at making my first bow and since I already a nice block of ash to fashion the riser from thought I would go ahead and get ash lams too. Thinking on staining to give some color. Maybe a nice dark amber color.

Depending on the particular piece of wood, you may not have to stain them. Try putting some clear coat (even water will work) on a piece and look at it.
Many time Ash will take on a green color when it has a clear coat on it. Natural camouflage. Many times it will be striped or slightly swirled depending on the grain.
