I recently sent a P.M. to a thread that first appeared nearly 6 years ago . How do 6 year old threads suddenly reappear

Anyone can pull them to the top.
Many times I/we do it for reference or to bring up a past subject that had good information in it that is worthy of re-reading.

X2 what fpd said. Like the Dead Cow thread. Some have been brought back many times.

If only the really old threads were still in the system. This forum has been going for more than 20 years and some fun stuff has evaporated.

If you bring back an old thread, how about mentioning that in you first sentence to let everyone know.

Shoot, that won't stop the folks who don't read the previous post and just jump in. I'm pleased to say that doesn't seem to be as common as it used to be here. Or maybe I just don't notice because I don't post/flame/etc. as often as I used to....;-)

Actually even the most recent post on an old thread would be on the bottom any way. And if folks don't see the date that the thread was brought back up, which is eveident, I'm not sure that mentioning the thread was reposted would have any affect.
It might I guess.

The archive is there for a reason. Rather than keep regurgitating the same old topics, you can pull up an older post that talks of the same thing. Whether you reply as it's new or not is predicated on whether you actually read the post and note the date. I don't mind them and even recommend pulling them up. Every now and then I also don't pay attention and answer a question from 2002 like it was a new one. Worse things can happen. Reading the post can actually let you know it's an old thread. Imagine that. ;)

I like the old threads. I often use them for reference and then I get distracted with another old thread then I forget what I was originally looking for.

But If guys didn't post stuff because it has been talked about before on here there would not be much action. Let's face it, most stuff here has been talked about before. Besides lots of people on here can add to a thread that were not around before. Now what is better left Wing or right wing?
