Anybody ever have one of these or shoot one? Thanks

I had one. Fantastic bow. Unfortunately it got knocked out of my tree stand and landed on the tip of the bottom limb and de- laminated. Broke my heart along with the bottom limb. If you can get one at a decent price, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Yes, they are real performers. You may want to dress them up a bit cosmetically, or take a little surplus wood off the tips...but they are just about the fastest of their era.

Very nice bows...super quick, smooth and stable.

This one was refinished by Phil Magistro...he did a beautiful job.

It is a Spartan Hunter. 44# 58".

I think the same bow as this one was what crookedstix used to take an elk two years ago.

Their big claim to fame was being computer designed, as the label indicates. That was significant in the mid 60's.

Last shot of the tips...they do benefit from a bit of reduction. These aren't too bad.

Pretty bow--what do they run price wise if you could find one?

From: George D. Stout

There is really no "price" to attach to them. Most folks never heard of them so they don't have the pazazz of better known bows. They are good shooters for sure, and they did well by using the computer designed aspect. Lovell Tice worked for the government in nuclear science I do believe hence he had access to the computers of the day. I've seen them go for just over a hundred bucks to near three hundred. Depends who's watching the sale and how bad they want one.

Funny you should ask! I have a 1966 70 in. 34 lb. "Master"; they're top of the line target bow. Smooth with superb cast. I have a Richards "Fascination" of the same weight and general design; which is a high end bow, but doesn't shoot as well as the T & W. Certainly not a common bow. I also have a Kilgor, similar in style to a Root. I've never met anyone else who has one let alone ever heard of them.

A glance at the limbs of a Tice & Watts Spartan Hunter shows it to be a pretty radical profile for its day...but maybe not the first to explore the possibilities of big hooks, as evidenced by Harold Groves' Spitfire from two years earlier. I suspect there might be some Bob Lee bows with similar profiles that are even earlier.

They are self-destructing trash cooked up by NASA kooks in Huntsville. Probably best to send it to me for proper disposal. I'll waive my usual fee, because I'm just a swell guy.
