I know some guys are in semi-urban areas where shooting can be tough to be safe and not an eyesore. This is my solution. My backstop is in my shed.

4 x 8 plywood is hinged and the actual target area is on a pulley system. both go up out of the way.

Wow! Some thought sure went into that set up. I like it a lot. Thanks for sharing. I might use some of those ideas in my garage.

Great post Dan. Thanks for a fine solution to hauling backstops in and out.

I agree with all the above. The only problem is I would probably shoot the barn to pieces. LOL

Your backstop looks just like mine except that mine isn't mobile, the neighbors just have to deal with it...and apparently they've noticed I'm a fair shot so they keep quiet, lol! I've probably had it for 30 years and other than "rearrange" the layers when they get shot out, it has needed no maintenance. Those sheets of material were fairly common back then, but I don't see it much anymore. My local archery club let me have a small stack, but I never knew what its commercial use was...is it some type of insulative material? It's a way thicker, more flexible and compressible foam than the Tyvek type stuff.

Very cool!!
We recently moved to a "neighborhood" where neighbors are....well, you know....neighbors. Shooting (or lack thereof) has been a bug with me but this idea could potentially pacify the nit-pickers.
Gonna get on that project tomorrow...

My neighbors are my son and daughter and grandchildren. I don't expect any complaints. They knew who I was before they built so close.
