I have brachial neuropathy in my right shoulder. It’s affected my right hand and arm. My index finger and thumb curled over and seized in place. Work injury that ended up costing me my job and forced into early retirement. I can’t even start to pull a string because of pain radiating up my palm and wrist. Finally diagnosed after 2 years. I couldn’t pull a bow at all for 6 months and was on a lot of pain killers.
When I got off the meds I taught myself to shoot left handed. That took a long time as I’m right eye dominant. I dropped 7# in bow weight and now draw 47# with a Bear TD. I felt confident enough to hunt after shooting lefty for about 3 months. I’m now waiting on another diagnosis from a top neuro surgeon in the states and possible nerve transfer surgery in a few months.
Pray you guys down there never get socialized medicine care!
Everything I’ve dealt with over the past 27 months ( and counting) and doctors I’ve had, made me realize nerve issues are very complex. I also agree with above drop way down weight and go up as you are able. I was lucky in that I had a variety of limbs laying around and a fellow member in PBS I knew was lefty as well had an extra riser I could borrow.
Good luck with your rehab. I hope all goes well.
On the bright side I made a perfect hit on a buck last Friday.
