Here are some photos of my new to me bow. Shoots good and I’m looking forward to getting it cleaned up, making a new string and a pair of wool silencers. I’m liking the wood combination and the dark green glass. The bow is 55#@28” and 52”. Thanks for letting me share. Lance

looks newer than the one I have, seems to be in good shape too! I like the light/dark wood contrast.
love to hear what you think of the bow when you shoot it. I love mine. not the fastest but man, it is stable for a bow that size.

Those Cravotta Brothers bows (BlackHawk, Galaxy, and "made for" various other venders/Archery shops), of East McKeesport, Pennsylvania, just keep proving themselves, year after year, decade after decade. Even ages after the company closed due to the big fire in the 1970s.
Lance, pretty sure you are going to have fun with Mr. Mars! And, probably will be a bit surprised...
The Company made a couple of those big-riser, long-limbed Target Bows in their hey-day, and as a resident of the area living about 15 miles away in Greensburg, they show up quite often, if your "eyes" happen to notice. Sooner or later, a nice 32# Lefty Target will find its way to me, and then, I'll probably do a posting like you!

Lance's model is a 1973. I've had many of their bows over the years and they are great companions for sure. I currently still use the 1966 Scorpion. It is a semi-recurve, like a current hybrid, no tip overlays and I still use low stretch strings on it. It's an awesome bow with a few thousand shots through it with that Fury string...15 strands with 24 strands in the loops. It carrys so nice and shoots fantastically.
The Galaxy line normally was a bit 'spiffier' than the regular line, incorporating phenolic in many or most of the models. If you get an opportunity, pick up one of the standard Hornet models...1960's. They are really great bows too.

I must really keep my eyes open for one of the Cravotta Brother's bows. My Grandparents lived in Mckeesport when I was a kid and it would be great to own, shoot and possibly hunt with a piece of history with a personal connection for me.

Lance, that is a beauty. I have a '64 Warrior and a '68 Avenger. Both are plain Maple but really clean and good shooters. My buddy just gave me a Blackhawk back quiver. It cleaned up really well too. gunr

I just checked s/n on mine and it was M973 so september of 73. made about the same time as yours lance, black glass, but man, yours looks to be in better condition.

A little update! I made a 14 strand B50 Flemish twist string and let it stretch out for 48 hours. After serving it I set the B/H at 8” and started shooting. It shot the quietest at 7-3/4” for a B/H and that’s where I’ll leave it. I started with 2114’s and they all flew left. Tried some 2016’s and they all died on the way to target @ 25 yards. I then grabbed some POC’s made by Suzanne St Charles and they flew true. The arrows spine 50-55# and weigh on an avg of 490gr. I had a little stacking at first but after shooting it for awhile I didn’t pay much attention to it. I still like my K-Mags but I have to give a little edge to this bow shooting a flatter line. All in all I’d recommend this bow to any short bow lovers out there. It was easy to tune and as soon as I finish this entry I’ll make some wool silencers and get them installed. Gonna be extra quiet then. Have a good day all and thanks. Lance
