How many like all feathers the same color and why? How many want a different color cock feather and why?

I like all 3 the same. Not really sure why. I guess I just like to see all one color in the quiver, in a box, or in the target. An odd cock feather can be nice looking too. I guess I just like to buy and fletch all one color when I am building arrows too. I seem to have an inherent knack for recognizing the cock feather, even when they are all the same.

I’ve been using an orange wrap, and one of each flo orange ??, flo yellow, and flo green, For stump shooting, I use pink flu, flu. Easier to fine in the snow. Ken

I use the same color. If properly tuned i dont need a cock feather. I just nock and shoot.

I have always used a cock feather of a different color, and I am thinking about using all the same color

All the same here

First really good aluminum 26-inch target arrows I had, were given to me by my coach just before the '62 Southwest Open in Tulsa. They had two reds and a yellow cock feather. Really liked those arrows. No need to change colors since then.

It depends.

Just for "poops & giggles" my latest fletched arrows I done, I made them 4 black 4" feathers with a florescent greenish/yellow wraps with a green nock. I think they turned out nice.

Always use all three the same. I shoot cock feather in usually but it really doesn't make any difference. I like the look of all the same.

Three white

all the same orange or pink if I fletch or whatever if I get a deal.

Three 4" white feathers, white nock and a white dip. I like to see my hit.

I'm doing up 10 old Bear cedars tonight. Doing them as they came from the factory with 3 yellow, 5" fletches. However, since I shoot in the dark a lot, I use indexed nocks to aid in placing the arrow on the string. I can use all the same color without a problem.

I prefer all 3 colors be the same as well.

From: M60gunner

Really no preference. For 3D I like 3 flo yellow, flo yellow wrap and flo green nock. I buy in bulk usually so when I have a lot of one color I make the arrows all one color.

I like all 3 the same color. When the arrow is flying down range all I want to see is a ball of color. I use to have 3 white or 3 flo. yellow now I use 3 tangerine.

I use to have a different color cock feather and when the arrow is flying down range it looks like the nock end of the arrow is flipping.

I mostly use fluorescent yellow. Use a fletch cover when I'm hunting. I like all the same color just because it's easier for me to see in flight, and in the target. I can shoot cock feather in, or out, doesn't matter.

I prefer all the same for working out flight issues. Easier to see what’s happening without the “strobe” effect.

But I just plain LIKE having a cock feather in a contrasting color.... because that’s what I like.

I like barred naturals myself, but after seeing these and reading the purpose, I could live with something different.

VERY cool!

That one just gave me an inspiration!

I'm shooting 4, 3" parabolic. I like barred white and barred hot pink. I chose this color combination because my eyes pick them up well.

I’m indecisive and change my mind often. I just do whatever. Mostly yellow and white or natural barred.

I fletch whim of the day. It all works.

From: reddogge

What a magnificent bird. I do 3 white fletch for 3-D and fluorescent green with one barred feather for hunting.

From: reddogge

Ouch, sorry for the enormous pic.

The why? White shows up well in the air, targets and on the ground. The flourescent green shows up well hunting and is not as flagging as white.

A barred cock feather just 'looks' better but I sometimes use a contrasting solid.

Doesn't matter if they are all the same color or not to me as long as they are bright. I love watching my arrows in flight.

From: Bill Hofstetter

Ditto on the feathers being the same colors. Tree standing hunting I generally use all white with a Mercury speed nock.. I can really see the arrow to target, there's no guessing on a pass through and if I miss, as I find myself doing more of these days, it's easier to find the arrow. Ground hunting, 3 yellow or orange.

From: Pdiddly
Date: 12-Nov-19

I like two yellow or two orange with a blue cock feather.

I stump shoot a lot. The yellow and orange show up well in flight and on the ground in some conditions.

The blue feather REALLY stands out on the forest floor as very little in the woods is blue.

I have always done 3 white. Last year I started doing 2 white and a natural barred. I honestly do not think it matters with feathers and have not noticed any difference in arrow flight how the fletching is orientated. The biggest thing I noticed is I have to have my broadhead blades on a 2 blade straight up and down.
