Anyone use muzzys or other trocar tipped heads? Just curious. My buddy has used Muzzys with success. In my compound days I was a fan of the Wasp Boss 3 blades.

Yep....I've used them,my dad used them, my wife uses them, my oldest son uses them, my oldest daughter uses them, the best bowhunter I know uses them. All out of recurves or longbows.

As for bow weights related to the bows/shooters using them.

Most of the bows that I hunt with are in the 50-55lb. range. My wife hunts with a Ben Pearson Cougar that she draws to right around 42lbs.. Oldest son hunts with bows in the 50'ish lb. range. oldest daughter hunts with the American flatbow that I posted pics. of several months ago that is 35lbs. at her draw length, my buddy Joe Gallagher used a Dave Guthrie Appalachian Flatbow that was 62lbs., the best bowhunter I've ver known (Robert Feller from Lexington, Texas) shot Black Widows and Curtis Byrd recurves in the 60lb. range.

All of the arrows have been aluminum with the exception of the carbons that my oldest son shoots, so they have all weighed 8grs. per pound or more I'm sure although I'm not real big on weighing arrows. In VERY few cases have there not been 2 holes, and in the majority of cases the arrows were on the ground somewhere on the other side of the deer.

One of the things that most folks don't see about that tip is the fact that if you hit it a few times on a stone, it is then as sharp as any cut on contact head out there. You can also easily resharpen the main blades if you choose to do so.

It probably doesn't have the optimal profile as it relates to penetration, but for deer in particular it has all the penetration properties that you need.

They fly extremely well, they are razor sharp (literally) right out of the package, and they don't cost a fortune.

The Muzzy trocar tip is awesome. Really.

You can actually sharpen the edges on the tip to razor sharp pretty easily, but they don't really need it.

"If" they made them in a weight I want to use, I might have to give them some serious consideration.

I've used the muzzy three blade on several deer. Pass thru on each and every deer. Great head.

Used them in the past, would still use them if Muzzy would make the 4 blade 145 grain head again. And the 120 grain Turkey Thumper heads.

i used them for years, with a compound, for those using them successfully with tradgear are you using heavy arrows/bows? they are a very tough head forsure id love to mix them into my quiver with some confidence.

I shoot them on aluminum shafts of average (8-10grs. perpound) total weight.

I use them. No different than any other head. If you put them in the right place things die quickly There is a guy on bowsite who has killed a lot of elk with them out of mid fifties lb longbows and recurves.

I shoot a recurve and I pull 46 @ 27 inches. Shooting the Thunderhead 125 I get pass throughs on deer unless I hit a shoulder on the opposite side. You will do well with the Muzzy.

Muzzy Phantom.

They certainly wouldn't one of my picks using traditional bows.

I was never impressed with Muzzy broadheads when I shot compounds. The blades were dull right out of a new pkg and the aluminum ferules were weak and easily bent.

IMO there are MUCH better broadheads made.

I agree with Ghostman. Ive never been impressed with the performance id gotten out of muzzys when i used to shoot wheels- - they never shot near as well as other heads like the thunderhead.

I have never hunted with a trocar tip out of a trad bow. Years ago an old boy had a fresh deer skin stretched out and told me to push a trocar tipped arrow through the hide. I was amazed at the effort it took. Then he had me try a cut on contact head-- it went through with little effort. Lesson learned.

I've had good luck with Muzzys. I wish they made heavier 3 blade heads
