With Arthritis in my shoulders and elbows my days of back quivers are over....I can't reach the arrows. Looking for suggestions on hunting hip quivers from those that use them. Thanks

Chuck Adams Hip Quiver ..... not made anymore and I've owned 5 or more .... but one may still find one on a popular selling site ?? maybe .... Good Luck!

Lakota style quivers work good too.

I have a Selway hip quiver that can go from right to left. I really like it when I'm using my Snuffers. Traditions Leathercraft in Oklahoma has a sweet unit that I'm thinking about trying for 2 bladed broadheads. I don't like how my bows handle/feel with a quiver on it.

Can be used right or left. Holds six arrows.

The side quiver with strap that goes over the shoulder. Stephen Catts made them. Mine holds 6 arrows, I made mine with plans off this site? The holster type work just don’t use the leg ties. It looks like a strutting Turkey when your walking along, which could be used as a target by some half blind person.

I think Kwickey made an adapter for their Bow quiver to convert it to hip quiver also.

Same as "stagetek " very cheap and its at either 3rivers or Lancaster archer. like 20$ and it keeps arrows neat

The one on the right works pretty well for me roving and at shoots. It’s from Idaho Leather and you might find one on eBay. Crookedstix used one on our CO hunt in 2017. Maybe he’ll pipe in. Lance

I put my hip quivers on a strap that can be worn across my chest instead of putting them on my belt. They don’t snag on stuff near as often and the arrows are still easily accessible.

I use Selway hip quivers for all my 3d and target shooting. They work extremely well for hunting. I have spot and stalked with them and tree stand. The only thing I do is add a key ring at the bottom for a leg tie down and for hanging on a hook or small limb in a tree stand letting it hang upside down. The elastic leg tie down lets it stay tight to my leg 3d shooting and spot and stalk.

I tryed hip quivers for hunting and didn't care for them. If tied to my leg the fletching moves back and forth when I walked. To me,it just seems to be a lot of movement. If you don't tie it to your leg, it's better. You might want to consider a cat quiver where you reach back and low to get an arrow instead of back and up. That might help. And it also has a pack added. Of various sizes. Or a bow quiver with a strap attached to carry over your shoulder. I tryed many different quivers and found that there is no perfect quiver.

Another one of mine. It's a old Bear Hug quiver that I attached to a piece of leather that has belt slots in it. The quiver bracket attaches to the leather. You can remove the quiver with out taking the leather ( and bracket ) off your belt.

I use this self made over the shoulder ambidextrous quiver. Each broadhead fits into its own sheath that releases as the arrow is withdrawn.

I'm a little odd I suppose but I like the tie on the bottom of a hip quiver. You just have it snug enough so it keeps the arrows from moving too much...takes some getting used to maybe. I don't know that there is any good "one" answer for any quiver. Early on, before I could afford a Bear bow quiver, I used a NEET side quiver made for 6 broadheads.

From: Bowguy Professional Bowhunters Society - Associate Member

I’ve used a bunch. Most my bows aren’t equipped for quivers which to me is fine. I’ve used hip quivers since about the 90s and I’ve tried a bunch. The neet are cool. They’re pretty cheap. I’ve been using a Thunderhorn bandelero hip quiver the last few years. Little bit pricier but it seems good quality and I like the leather as opposed to the material that picks up all kinds burrs

I have tried most. Like a side quiver for small game as I can just drop arrows in or take them out. I just finished my proto-type that has a file pocket sewn on the bottom. It has a small broadhead pocket sewn in to carry that “coyote medicine”securely from the blunts. It has a hidden aluminum strap sewn in to a near circle that keeps the back end open, so the arrow just drops in within having to push or prod the arrow into an opening. The quiver just works for that. I did provide a deep enough point-end to accommodate a thick foam pad for broadheads with an arrow “spreader’. To hold 5 Broadheads. It easily slides behind me for maneuvering thru tight spots. At 3D’s the score card just rides in with t;he arrows. Definitely worth looking at

I really like my Cedar Ridge Leatherworks quiver. I went with the 6 arrow model, so I can carry a couple small game/stumping arrows along with 4 broadheads. He also makes a 4 arrow model. Easy on,easy off, 5 D-rings to hang from or on.Very easy to manuver through the woods, can slide around to your back with very little effort,

Omnivore quiver is great.

Traditions Leatherworks (I think?) has a good one if you use 2 blade broadheads. It's a little too long for me, but I'm really short. It should fit normal guys perfectly. I used mine turkey hunting and it was great.

I have an old shoulder injury that made using a back quiver awkward and I don't like a bow-mounted quiver. I have a 1960's Sport King back quiver that I converted into an ambidextrous Lakota-style quiver. I started by removing the external large pocket, then cutting an elongated oval hole, 3" x 10", in the short side about 4 inches up from the bottom. I reconfigured the straps to wear the main strap across the chest so that the quiver rides just under your right elbow (if you're shooting RH) with the opening facing up. I cut a closed cell foam insert to fit into the bottom of the quiver to hold broadhead tips securely in place. The soft leather wraps close to your body and the quiver quietly holds a dozen arrows. There is much less movement than a back quiver: just reach down into the lower end of the opening with your right hand, grab an arrow shaft about four inches behind the tip, slide it slightly back so the tip clears the opening then slide the arrow forward onto your bow rest in one smooth motion.

My son would give his thumbs up on the Omnivore Side Quiver also. P.S. A little pricey also, but great quality.

Check out big Jim’s side quiver I have one and it works well for me .

For two bladed broadheads, I had Hidehandler, Steve Catts in West Virginia, make me a flat side quiver with his heavy veg tanned leather and had him make it with two snap-on belt loops instead of one loop for the model I picked. Is steadhand works good for both 3-D and hunting, but will not hold three bladed broadheads and only a few arrows. It's really just a side quiver but works for both, and it is very comfortable, tough as nails, and good looking too.

Farrwest Leather made the Absorkee hip quiver. Easily my favorite way to carry arrows if not using a bow quiver. Don't think they're in business anymore. Guess not everyone shared my delight?!

I don't yet know for sure which of these three bows will be going to Colorado with me in a couple of weeks, but this Idaho Leather Co. hip quiver is going for sure...and it will be filled with these five Forgewood arrows with Bear Razorheads on the business ends.

I prefer the Marv Clyncke version as shown. Its a specially bent piece of leather covered aluminum where one adds the hood and arrow holder. The old 7 arrow Delta quiver hoods and arrow holder work well, even the older Jennings Ace In the Hole quiver hood and arrow holder works. All one needs is an L brackets, some nuts/bolts to attach the arrow holder and the hood attaches directly with nuts/bolts. Wear it on your belt, under/inside pants at belt or even in the front pocket.

My Cedar Ridge is the best side quiver for hunting I’ve ever used. Dead silent, and maneuverable. I consider it to be for hunting only. I would like to try a Lakota style some day.

All of these guys build a great quiver. For years I've used a Latigo Side Stalker because I can stalk around with broadheads, fieldtips and Judo points. And it fits nicely over a backpack when you are out in the mountains or on your way to the stand.

I used an Idaho Leathers hip quiver for many, many years for all my hunting and target shooting needs. Until I slipped on a really steep slope in the chapparal. After hitting the ground, then looking around, I was surrounded by six broadheads that all had popped out of the quiver. They must have hit a branch as I fell backwards. It only happened once, but concerned me enough to change over to heavy duty plains quiver.

Back Quiver unless carrying a pack or tree stand then

a Gerry Bower style side quiver something like OklaLeatherMan showed

I use a kwikee & wrap my belt around it twice this works great the quiver is tite to your waist your fletching does not flop around & the arrows are right there

From: Dad

If you have a Kwickee { any model} You can make a easy shoulder{GFA}. Take a 1x3X about 20 in length put screw in rifle sling holders studs. Put them at each end on the side of the board about a inch back from the ends. Use old rifle sling a long one that is adjustable. Mount the Kwickee 1/3 of the way down so it points toward the ground the hood part. Put the sling on and you are in business. If you don't have a rifle sling get uncle mikes swivels and studs and some web material and make your own.
