Ok guys I have a question for all of you that are way more knowledgeable than I am.
Here's my setup: GT 400 Full Length 150gr insert (50gr insert and 2 50gr GT weights attached inside arrow shaft) 175gr point
These arrows fly really well. I generally shoot 125gr Bear Razorheads out of my bows. I love the old Razorheads and have always stuck with them because they are accurate.
Here's my question: With my arrow setup would I be better off eliminating some of the insert weights and use a heavier broadhead (i.e. 200 - 250gr) or add an additional 50gr insert weight and shoot my 125gr Razorheads? Is there an advantage to all the weight being on the actual head leading the arrow or does it matter?
Thanks,
Rick

Hey rick I do not think your suggestion would effect anything. But why not get a tapered 50 gr. screw in/glue on adapter making your bear heads 175 gr. That way you would just un-screw field point and screw in your broadheads. ...Philip

A bigger broadhead might have more cutting surface or more width.

Hi Any-bears, I forgot to mention my Razorheads are screw-ins.
Redbuff, that is why I am asking. I think I might gain alot by going to a bigger broadhead, but I really didn't know if there was any other reason to go to a bigger head.
Thanks guys.
Please keep the responses coming.

If you are decent at tuning, you will definitely notice a difference in weight distributed behind the insert vs in front of the shaft. If it is tuned now, changing the weight to the broadhead area will weaken dynamic spine. You can test this in a minute if you doubt it.I keep a variety of field points on hand that go up to and over 300 grains, for this purpose.I wouldn't buy new broadheads till I worked this out with field points and bare shafts.
I have experimented a ton with this weight distribution stuff and this is what I have experienced.
